What’s the job?
The primary function of the Engineering Manager is to provide the key leadership of engineering activities at the Peachtree City, GA roofing facility to support a continuous improvement methodology in regards to Environmental Health & Safety, Quality and Productivity.
Confer with top management and other plant departments to discuss project specifications and procedures.
Develops effective teamwork and utilizes innovation to achieve department goals.
Analyze technology, resource needs, risk and associated costs to assess the feasibility of projects.
Direct, review and approve technical designs and changes.
Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts related to Engineering and improvement projects.
Consult or negotiate with corporate engineering or outside vendors to prepare project specifications.
Key manager and coordinator of the fixed assets at the Peachtree City roofing facility.
Provides general leadership and development of others.
Coordinates and directs projects making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
Perform administrative functions such as: reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules and making decisions regarding the purchase of equipment, materials or services.
Perform root-cause analysis as well as implement sustainable countermeasures on losses related to electrical failures.
Provide technical assistance to the production and maintenance departments.
Provide key leadership to CertainTeed’s world class manufacturing (WCM) initiatives.
Conduct behavior based audits and 5S audits as well as support plants EHS goals.
Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
What do you bring?
Minimum of 4-year degree (Engineering Preferred) PE a plus.
5 plus years of experience in a Management role
Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing experience
Proficient in use of MS Office
Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws (OSHA)
General understanding of ISO methodology (ISO 9001, 14001, & OHSAS 18001)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Auto-Cad and/or SolidWorks
Familiarity with 5S & Continuous Improvement Methodology
