    Come start a career with us at CertainTeed as a Forklift Operator. The Forklift Operator will be expected to perform all duties and responsibilities for the operations in his/her assigned area. Operators will also be responsible for safely handling wallboards from the production line to the warehouse and loading it onto trucks and rails.

    Schedule: Fixed shifts; 7:00 am-7:00 pm and 7:00 pm-7:00 am 

    Compensation: Starting wage $21/hour PLUS a $2.00 shift differential.

    Knowledge

    All operators are required to follow plant, departmental, and job safety policies. They are expected to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the following:

    • Safe operating procedures, including housekeeping requirements. Have Quality control procedures and guidelines.
    • Communication with the previous shift to ensure proper counts and a smooth transition.
    • The person will be responsible to identify quality products and reporting problems, reporting unsafe conditions, and correct immediately.
    • Learn and use computer systems for Quality and Supply Chain reporting.
    • Communicate with other associates and areas to ensure a good working environment.

    Position Aspects

    • Ability to work a shift schedule based on production demand.

    • Ability to report to scheduled work on time every day.

    • Ability to work nights and weekends when scheduled

    • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required

    • The positions require working in an environment that is hot in the summer and cold in the winter

    • Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment that may include: hearing protection, steel toe boots, safety glasses, and Hard Hats.

    • Ability to safely operate a powered industrial vehicle (forklift, etc.)

    • Ability to work productively as a member of a team

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

    Language Skills

    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
