    Position Description

    Job Summary

    The GM Glass Mat & Granules Strategy is responsible for assuring the continuous supply of Glass Mat & Granules (Volume and Quality) to all the CertainTeed Roofing lines. She/he also sets the global strategy, creates/leads the roadmap to transition into a vertical integration scheme for Glass Mat and a combination of external purchases and vertical integration for Granules.

    The incumbent has management responsibility for the operation of the Glass Mat facilities in CertainTeed Roofing: Charleston, SC/Russellville, AL/Oxford, NC and future expansions or acquisitions.  The position is responsible for planning/directing all plant activities such as production,scheduling, purchasing raw materials, plant operation/maintenance, appropriate staffing, controlling product cost, assuring quality and shipping finished goods. The Granules operations (Glenwood, AK / Gads Hill, MO) report directly into Roofing operations with a dotted line to the GM Glass Mat & Granules strategy who will be driving the Granules long-term strategy & lead granules product management.

    In collaboration with Purchasing Department, negotiates the external supply of Glass Mat, GlassMat raw materials & granules contracts.

    She/he provides critical inputs to the S&OP strategy with the Glass Mat and Granules planner and Supply Chain team. Provides support/guidance to the R&D teams in product developments and improvements.

    She/he responsible for the achievement of the financial performance of the plants and when the internal demand permits the external sale of surplus inventory, she/he will develop external business and will be responsible for the P&L of the Glass Mat & Granules Business.

    Glass Mat Operations

    • Promotes and creates a strong team environment. 
    • Manages the Operations of the Glass Mat plants providing support to achieve Performance/ Budget goals.
    • Provides resources to foster a strong Continuous Improvement Culture.
    • Develops, plans and gain approval for Budget, LRP, Capital plans.
    • Provides direction on new technologies and raw materials for Glass Mat plants, including Industry 4.0 and Digital tools
    • In collaboration with the Operations team leads the Glass Mat Roadmap for Sustainability & decarbonization.
    • Oversees relationship between the Glass Mat plants and their customers.
    • Selects, trains, evaluates performance and supervises directly all key personnel.

    Glass Mat & Granules Supply Strategy

    • Develops approval for strategy, including expansions or acquisitions.
    • Owns the integration of the new glass mat line from conception to production, including relationships with the county, city andeducation centers to assure the labor pipe line.
    • Supervises activities for the Product Management, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Quality, R&D and Engineering functions.
    • Develops business for external sales of Glass Mat anticipating any inventory surplus & expands external sales of headlap granules.
    • Define Business Continuity Strategies for Glass Mat & Granules.

    Glass Mat & Granules Product development

    • Directs the teams to shift to a stronger approach for product management and development.

    • Promotes the consolidation of product specs for the internal mat, including product formulation,mat properties, mat performance, packaging and shipping.

    • Provides support and guidance to the R&D teams in product developments and product improvements.

    Required Qualifications

    What do you bring?

    • Bachelor's Degree

    • 10-15 years of experience in product management, strategy, sales, management, or similar role with P&L responsibility

    • 10 years related experience in the application of Glass Mat or related product

    • 10+ years leading direct and direct teams
