Apply the technical skills necessary to maintain and restore all major components of a complex automated manufacturing line using up to date diagnostic methods and equipment. Included are all in-house programmable logic controllers such as the Allen Bradley Control Logix, servo drive systems and machine controls, and fluid power components with their related logic systems. Maintain all electrical needs for Stephenville site. Perform general maintenance of manufacturing, support equipment and office facilities with minimal supervision. Make recommendations to supervision concerning new and existing equipment. Develop new or modify existing equipment as required.
Troubleshoot machine systems using engineering prints, flow diagrams, schematics, logic drawings, technical manuals, and other references available.
Utilize all available troubleshooting equipment including computers, measuring devices, meter, gages, scopes, etc. to isolate system failures and restore machinery to running condition with minimal downtime.
Observe equipment for areas of unusual wear or variation. Interpret statistical process data and submit written analysis to management for recommended corrective action.
Assist in the training of other maintenance personnel. Serve as technical resource to personnel using the systems to increase employee effectiveness and meet objectives for user service and education.
Repair, modify, or fabricate miscellaneous components and/or systems to engineering specifications.
Operate all shop equipment including forklifts as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
Modify or create machine programs where necessary to ensure maximum process capability.
Accept special assignments or projects as assigned by supervision.
Attend and participate in continuous improvement meetings and projects assigned by supervision.
Expand technical knowledge to include new equipment as required.
Utilize working knowledge of all electrical components and all levels of power distribution used within the plant.
Diagnose electrical problems and determine and make repairs required.
Make repairs on hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical components with minimal supervision.
Inspect equipment in preparation of Preventative Maintenance.
Work with or secure assistance from equipment manufacturers and vendors when specialized knowledge or techniques are required to repair/modify equipment.
Observe safety rules, housekeeping, and federal, state, and local regulations at all times and bring all non-compliance to the supervisor’s attention.
Perform special assignments or projects as assigned by supervision.
All other duties as assigned.
Possess a two-year technical/electronic; or 3-5 years progressive technical and electronic experience in a manufacturing operation.
Possess a thorough working knowledge of complex automated manufacturing equipment, including the programming, diagnosis and repair/maintenance of programmable logic controllers and their related logic systems.
Possess electrical knowledge and designation as a qualified person under NFPA-70E.
Ability to operate all standard shop equipment, including forklifts.
Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics, drawings, technical manuals, and other necessary references. Ability to interpret statistical process data in evaluating equipment performance.
Possess working knowledge of troubleshooting equipment including computers, measuring devices, meters, gages, scopes, etc.
Possess excellent organizational, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to distinguish color differences.
Knowledge of and willingness to implement team concepts and continuous improvement in working with other employees.
Must utilize all required personal protective equipment
Must participate as a team member in a 12 week WCM Green Belt project within 6 months of position entry.
Utilize tools and knowledge acquired from Green Belt project team participation to lead and successfully complete a WCM project. Completion of a WCM Yellow Belt certification or above within 1 year of position entry is required to remain in position/grade level.
