Main purposes of this position:
The Materials Testing Specialist role is responsible for assignments related to the day to day performance of the concrete and material testing laboratory in a manner that results in high quality products, technical sales support and customer satisfaction.
Interfaces and Responsibilities:
Key internal interfaces will be with the Director of Technical Services, Lab/QC personnel, Sales team members and R&D/QC Manager. This position will work collaboratively with the entire organization in a fast paced and industrial environment.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Prepare material and equipment
Perform laboratory tests on aggregates and fresh / hardened concrete with minimal supervision
Perform laboratory tests required for cement additive lab when needed
Collect and analyze material samples
Record, calculate, analyze and present test results
Gather and maintain computerized data records
Write laboratory reports (MS WORD)
Ensure conformance with ACI, ASTM standards and in-house CHRYSO testing & laboratory procedures
Utilize complex instrumentation
Maintain equipment, clean and organize laboratory and material and specimen holding / storage areas
Receive and log field collected materials and ensure proper storage
Manage workloads to meet required deadlines.
Minimum High School Diploma
2+ years of materials testing experience
Related Degree highly preferred (CIM, Chemistry)
ACI Concrete Field Testing Tech Level 1 cert or ability to complete within 6 months
Passion for technical knowledge and learning.
Prior cement/concrete and/or construction industry experience preferred.
Valid Driver License in good standing
Sit, walk, stand, occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch
Experience with cement/concrete Quality Assurance/Quality Control is a plus.
Ability to lift up to 80lbs
Have a complete understanding of the ASTM test methods used in testing the performance of cement/concrete
