Under the supervision of the Process Engineering Leader, the Manufacturing Process Engineer will work in concert with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and other critical functional areas on key business projects with a specific focus on process improvement through process engineering activities and tools. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will plan and conduct experiments for current and future production processes and will have an active role in key platform development projects. The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all process instrumentation and measurement systems are accurate, calibrated and verified so that production personnel can meet specifications for conformance within our Quality Management System. This position will be responsible for all aspects of product color management which includes developing corrective action plans and participating in teaching opportunities with production personnel, as they relate to the color management system and the siding extrusion processes. The Manufacturing Process Engineer through Process Improvement Events, Capital Projects, and Project Management will lead/assist in OEE improvements, cost reduction initiatives and World Class Manufacturing. As in all positions, the Manufacturing Process Engineer will support a safe working environment in area of responsibility at all times. Correct or report unsafe acts or conditions through appropriate channels of resolution.
Provide direct hands-on assistance to Manufacturing personnel on the Siding production floor to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
Manage process instrumentation and measurement systems.
Manage all aspects of the Plant’s color management system.
Submit and manage capital projects.
Lead/Assist on Improvement Projects and/or Events
Troubleshoot extrusion process issues and color problems and recommend corrective action.
Participate in World Class Manufacturing Teams and Intergroup teams such as, Die and Sizer Team and the Manufacturing Materials Team. These teams are responsible for providing process standardization throughout the group.
Maintain technical competence and keep informed on new developments in materials, process technology, and product applications to assure the most appropriate methods and materials are used.
Deliver on SPG cost reduction initiatives.
“Your Skills Matter” - What do you bring?
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
A minimum of 1 year of experience in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering. Experience in the Extrusion Industry is desirable
Advanced computer knowledge and competence with computer network navigation is critical
Experience with VBA software, Python, embedded code development, use of de-bugger etc., is highly desirable.
Demonstrated advanced quantitative analysis skills
Good written, verbal and presentation skills
Ability to work independently and with teams
MS Office Word, Excel, Access, Project and CAD desirable
Six Sigma project work strongly preferred.
Self-motivated and hands-on
