SageGlass®, a wholly owned subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, located in Faribault, MN, produces electronically tintable glass for windows, skylights, and curtain walls. It tints automatically or on demand to control sunlight, without shades or blinds. SageGlass transforms the indoor experience by controlling sunlight to optimize daylight, outdoor views and comfort while preventing glare, fading and overheating without the need for blinds or shades.

We are NOW hiring a Quality Manager to lead our talented Quality team!

What’s the job?

The Quality Manager provides key leadership to drive improvements in our quality management system, overall product quality, and customer satisfaction.

The Quality Manager will actively lead the development, improvement, and implementation of the Business Quality Strategy. This role is responsible for developing the policies, standards, and processes that the entire SageGlass organization will follow to ensure full compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, considering the input from the various stakeholders. A team consisting of technicians, analysts, a supervisor, and engineers will support the quality management system and is within the direct authority of the Quality Manager to develop as needed. Various other internal stakeholders including Finance, Sales, Production, Human Resources, Engineering, Field Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing will be directly affected by the quality systems developed and thus it is critical to have strong influencing without direct authority skills in the Quality Manager role.

The Quality Manager brings clarity to complex business challenges and protects the business, customers, and employees from adverse events, preventing them from occurring or mitigating impact if they do occur. This requires a strong understanding of regulations within the glass industry, diverse knowledge of Quality Management Systems, and excellent influencing skills.

Essential Functions:

Ensures Customer and regulatory requirements are properly integrated with the entire business, in all functions.

  • Defines policies and procedures to effectively mitigate the risk of non-compliance.
  • Defines and enforces system controls to maintain up-to-date, accurate and approved specifications for the business. These include raw materials, production, sales, customer, contract manufacturer and packaging specifications.
  • Defines quality plans/qualification procedures for product and raw materials and is a key approver/stakeholder of the development and execution of the qualification plans.
  • Leads the Quality team, as they each participate in the shared responsibility for all product safety and compliance, as required by Saint Gobain.

Lead Continuous Improvement within the organization.

  • Creates and maintains a system that identifies problems, analyzes root causes, and assigns corrective actions for any adverse events or opportunities within the business. Defines what procedure will be followed for varying degrees of impact to the business or customer.

  • Drives accountability within the Root Cause and Corrective action system, individually and as a team leader.

Required Qualifications

Essential Functions Continued:

Maintains and Develops Quality Management Systems defined ETA, EN1279, IGCC/IGMA, SGCC, CCC.

  • Manages and oversees the systems and external audits that allow SageGlass to hold industry certifications.
  • Possesses the technical Industry Standards knowledge and manages numerous technical details to meet 3rd party regulatory compliance (https://i.e., Factory Production Control Plans).

Leads the development of the Business Quality Strategy and creates a common Quality Vision that motivates and engages the business team.

  • Creates systems that protect the business and our customers from adverse events.
  • Creates systems that give internal and external stakeholders the highest degree of confidence in our product offering.
  • Implements the Quality Management System foundational policies and procedures (Management of Change, Contract Review, Root Cause and Corrective Action, New Production Introduction Process, Document Control, Training System/Records, etc.).
  • Advocates a Customer Focused Quality Culture in the business.
  • Partners with the business functional leaders to insure the sustainable implementation of the Quality System and relevant Work Processes.
  • Defines and reports the Cost of Quality metrics/measurements to monitor business performance and reviews.

Leads a Quality Organization of dedicated professionals (engineers and technicians).

  • Directs and manages the quality organization resources with clearly defined role responsibilities and alignment to the Business Quality Strategy and overall Objectives.

Additional Description

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related science discipline is required

  • 5+ years' experience in Quality or Quality related field

  • 3+ years' experience developing Quality Management Systems

  • 1+ years' experience in management preferred

  • 1+ years' experience in regulated industry such as Aerospace, Life Science, Automotive, etc. desirable

  • High level ability to create a clear Vision and then think strategically, tactically, systemically, and analytically to execute the Strategy and meet key business deliverables and milestones

  • Demonstrated success establishing relationships and consulting with key stakeholders across a matrix organization, as well as the ability to successfully partner with team members and contacts from multiple backgrounds and geographies

  • Influences on key/critical quality initiatives and gains buy-in from management, operations, customers, and suppliers with a focus on delivering results

  • Strong project management, internal consulting and change management skills. Leads and participates in technically complex interdisciplinary teams

  • Identifies significant changes and manages the impact on systems, products, and process controls

  • Organizational subject matter expert on the Quality Management Systems defined by ISO 9001, ETA, EN1279, IGCC/IGMA, SGCC, CCC. Possesses the technical Industry Standards knowledge and manages numerous technical details to meet 3rd party regulatory compliance (https://E.g., Factory Production Control Plans) preferred

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for supplier and customer visits or audits and training
