What’s the job?
The Quality Process Engineer will work in concert with Quality, Manufacturing, Maintenance, R&D, Central Engineering, Product Management, WCM, and other critical functional areas on key business projects with a specific focus on product quality and process control through process engineering activities and tools. The Quality Process Engineer will plan and conduct experiments for current and future production processes and will have an active role in key platform development projects. Further, the Quality Process Control Engineer will leverage data science tools for process modeling to achieve continual improvement in plant quality and process KPI’s. The Quality Process Engineer will lead/assist in quality planning activities, cost reduction initiatives, capital projects, reliability improvement initiatives, and World Class Manufacturing.
Utilize defect analysis tool to troubleshoot processing problems for areas of responsibility, and implementing control & reaction procedures for operators.
Assure Process Standardization to minimize variation.
Develop, implement, and maintain data collection methods, integrity, storage, and analysis through company tools.
Maintain high visibility on the production floor and recognize production operators as customers of work performed by engineering.
Support the creation of documentation, visual management, and training for quality related topics.
Provide hands-on assistance to Manufacturing personnel on the production floor to investigate opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
Facilitate continuous improvement events at the plant.
Maintain technical competence and keep informed on new developments in materials, process technology, and product applications to assure the most appropriate methods and materials are used.
Proactively plan, control and assure product and process quality in accordance with established quality principles to eliminate potential sources of failure.
Support the Change Management process at the facility to identify, prioritize and mitigate risks related to planned changes.
Define and conduct product and process audits to ensure finished goods conform to specified requirements.
Create and maintain local documentation of standard work, such as quality manuals, procedures and work instructions.
Assist with management of document control system.
Support the verification/calibration process for all process monitoring and product inspection equipment.
Perform other engineering related duties as required by management.
What do you bring?
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with experience preferred in manufacturing environment or Research & Development through permanent employment or internship(s).
Must possess the ability to; (1) understand new concepts quickly; (2) determine the appropriate approach; (3) organize, schedule and coordinate work; and (4) communicate results or progress effectively.
Preferred experience in leading project teams in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge of data collection systems and data analysis.
Basic understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results and follow-up.
Ability to develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting and problem solving.
A thorough understanding of problem-solving and quality improvement tools and techniques.
Self-motivated and hands-on.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and AutoCAD.
Quality Certifications are Preferred but not Required include training in ISO 9000 or similar ISO discipline, ISO Auditor Training, Six Sigma, CQE Certification
