Saint-Gobain, a global leader in sustainability and manufacturing, is looking for a Network LAN Engineer to support the business units in North America.
The Network LAN Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local area networks and Data center network to ensure maximum uptime for customers. They will design system configurations, document and manage the installation of a new networks, and maintain and upgrade existing systems as necessary. The Network LAN Engineer is in charge of development projects and maintenance of LAN infrastructures deployed, and defining technical solutions adapted to entity needs (Datacenter and sites LAN infrastructures) and to be compliant with the standards defined by DSI Group. The Network LAN Engineer reports to the Manager, Network Services.
Responsibilities:
Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
Secures network system by establishing and enforcing SG DSI policies; defining and monitoring access.
Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
Design or manage the design of network architectures adapted to the needs of the businesses and the datacenters in collaboration with the DSI architects.
Manage and/or participate in releasing technical solutions on sites (configuration of switches, routers.) datacenters or in entities.
Ensure the design and implementation of technical solutions in compliance with “quality of service” (QoS) imperatives.
Responsible for the compliance of network installations with DSI Group security standards.
Documentation relative to the technical infrastructures implemented and technology monitoring.
Ensure that customer needs are taken into account in line with the strategy defined by DSI Group while measuring customer satisfaction and providing reporting.
Handle customer complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits, follow up to ensure resolution; Level 2 and Level 3 support inclusive.
Build sustainable relationships and trust with internal customers through open and interactive communication and being a trusted resource for problem resolution.
Responsible for creating technical documents (Visio Diagrams) and manuals that explain complex information in a clear and concise manner, working with Saint-Gobain Technology Solutions (SGTS) teams to ensure accuracy of detailed descriptions.
Management of technical literature by updating and revising as needed; producing both electronic and hard copies.
Bachelor’s degree/college diploma in the field of computer science or 5 -7 years’ equivalent work experience.
5-7 years’ experience managing and configuring enterprise network infrastructure solutions and equipment.
Exceptional technical knowledge of servers, networks, and data rooms.
Expertise in LAN, VLAN & WAN technologies, VoIP protocols (SIP,IMS), IP routing protocols.
Knowledge of HP AOS and CX switches, CISCO (Nexus 5000), routers, switches, Palo Alto firewalls.
Knowledge of WIFI solutions (Aruba), and systems.
Familiarity with: KiwiCatTools, WUG, Netflow, Sflow.
Familiarity with: HSRP, Multiple Spanning tree, SNMP, LLDP, CDP.
Ability to travel 25-35% to manufacturing sites and locations in Dallas regional area
