    "This Job Matters" - What’s the job?

    The Senior Demand Planner is responsible for all demand planning and sales forecasting activities for CertainTeed Siding Products Group (SPG) and Kaycan (21 manufacturing facilities). This position will be tasked with revamping the demand forecasting process for all lines of business under these two entities. This covers the generation of the consensus sales forecast at an aggregate level, and its disaggregation to the most detailed level (SKU and plant).  The Demand Planner drives the creation and maintenance of the sales forecast by combining inputs from customers, Sales, Product Management, historical data, and other relevant sources. The demand planner is accountable for the creation and maintenance of a sales forecast that will drive all decisions made by the business in regards to Production (which products to run on what lines, crewing levels etc), Sales (how to best service demand as identified in the forecast) and Inventory (carrying the right level of inventory to service customers based on the forecast). The forecast is the key input to SPG’s integrated S&OP process as well as to the company’s financial forecast. 

    80% Demand Planning

    • Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons.
    • Maintain baseline / statistical forecasts, collecting forecast drivers and highlighting changes and drivers in the plan to key stakeholders. Interact with sales, product management, strategy and finance to understand demand forecast drivers.
    • Review historical sales trends, research and highlight demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
    • Track Forecast KPI’s including bias, accuracy and forecast value add. Use these KPI’s to drive improvements.
    • Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and product management assumptions.
    • Own and facilitate monthly collaborative consensus sales forecast meeting with sales, product management, finance.
    • Develop, maintain and improve sales forecast processes that are tailored to each line of business as required.
    • Develop and implement cleansing process to ensure key demand factors are understood and outliers evaluated.
    • Ensure that consensus sales forecast assumptions and results are communicated to SPG leadership team
    • Ensure that consensus sales forecast is accurately disaggregated to SKU/plant level inside of SAP APO Demand

    10% S&OP Support

    • Develop baseline understanding of complete S&OP process, across multiple lines of business to facilitate:
      • Effective integration of the demand plan with the supply planning process
      • Enhanced reporting of KPIs related to both demand and supply planning
    • Support Planning Manager and S&OP Manager with ad hoc reporting and data requests

    10% Process Improvement

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in areas including:

      • Forecast accuracy
      • Efficiency and effectiveness of forecast input collection
      • Communication of forecast assumptions, results, and the drivers of those results
    • Seek out new approaches to enhance effectiveness of all aspects of SPG's demand planning process

    • Work with internal stakeholders to develop and enhance reporting and analysis tools (Qlikview)

    • Collaborate with colleagues in other CertainTeed businesses to find synergies and share best practices

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related field

    • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in a Logistics/Planning environment focused on demand/supply alignment, process improvements and analysis to achieve results

    • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.

    • Experience building and managing an end-to-end demand planning process in a manufacturing environment

    • Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, and presentation skills

    • Ability to identify and define issues, lead root cause analysis, and develop and manage corrective action plan

    • Change management and conflict management skills

    • Strong influencer with good written and oral communication skills, including online and in-person meeting management

    • Leans on expertise to work autonomously and develop and manage a sustainable monthly demand planning process based on data

    • Flexible, curious, and open-minded

    • Ability to draw conclusions from large data sets, and present them to others to enable decision-making

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Access, and PowerPoint and BI tools

    • SAP MRP, ERP planning software experience

    • Experience with SAP ECC and APO, specifically related to demand planning, production planning - preferred

    • APICS certification - preferred
