    Impact:

    The position will provide support to Quality programs at the Granville location, within the defined World Class Manufacturing (WCM) framework, in a manner consistent with the Principles of Conduct and Action of Saint-Gobain.

    The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for the leadership, development and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) and the Quality Assurance team for the Granville manufacturing site and its lines of high value PVC & Urethane foams. The Senior Quality Engineer will also be responsible for the work coordination and supervision of all shift Quality Technicians.

    The role supports the design and implementation of manufacturing processes and equipment for web processing using wet coating and lamination, web handling equipment and practices, extrusions and mixing technology.  This support will include compliance with all ISO standards (9001, 14001, 18001 and pending IATF 16949) within the Granville Site.

    Through guidance and leadership, the Quality Team supports the product development and manufacturing efforts of the plant and investigates any quality issues relating to raw materials and manufactured products. The Quality Engineer will be expected to ensure the plant remains in full compliance with regulatory and ISO requirements as they pertain to the plant, customer specifications, and corporate quality policies. 

    Required Qualifications

    BS degree in Engineering Discipline (Chemical preferred, Operations or equivalent discipline)- Required

    Master's degree (Engineering, Math, Quality or Business Statistics)- Preferred

    5+ years’ manufacturing experience as part of a quality org. in highly regulated industry OR 3+ years’ experience, with an advanced degree-   Required

    Project Management- Required

    Communications and Team Building Skills- Required

    Implementation of SPC Systems- Required

    Experience in ISO Environment- Preferred

    Knowledge of TQM/Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement Methodology- Preferred

    Specific Education and Training in Quality Disciplines (IATF 16949/ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASQ-CQE/CQA, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, PFMEA, DMAIC, Control Plans, DOE, COPQ)- Preferred 

    Additional Description

    Essential Functions:

    • Manage team responsible for ensuring high quality integrity of all products/process; including responsibility for the work coordination and supervision of all shift Quality Technicians.   Ensure robust root cause analysis investigation and CAPA for deviations and nonconforming product. Develop both strategic and tactical plans for quality culture development.  

    • Build product knowledge in order to develop or improve product specifications, identify potential failure modes, assess root cause, improve product performance, and drive risk management. Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing processes, and evaluation. Applies statistical process control (SPC) and other statistical methods of analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes to ensure that Customer and internal requirements are met. 

    • Compiles technical data and other key process information to determine product/process specifications and establish baselines.  Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. 

    • Ability to effectively define problems through data analysis, propose workable solutions to minimize defects and waste. The ability to define and work on data driven six sigma type projects. Determine statistical process capabilities and implement process control systems designed to improve  consistency, product yield, quality, and throughput rates.

    • Customer/Supplier and Compliance Management, including:

                  - Facilitate/host customer/supplier/regulatory audits as the Quality                                         representative.

                   - Ensure robust and effective corrective action to customer audit observations.

                   - Ensure deliverables for new programs (PPAP, GMP, UL, NSF, etc.) are                                 competed and on time while also monitoring compliance to existing programs.

    • Working with R&D and manufacturing teams, management of new product industrialization and control procedures, as well as ensuring work is completed in the required time frame and budget requirements. Responsible for communicating quality information status with appropriate team members and attending and supporting daily and weekly production meetings as voice of quality to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner as they arise. 

    • Execute talent management activities with 3 hourly direct reports.  Ensure proper performance management, training, and development.
