Essential Responsibilities of the Position: Supplier Management: Carry out supplier validation audits (on-site or remote), with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP). Documents and follows up on score card results audit results and required actions to be addressed by the supplier. Monitor supplier performance, submit SCARs as required, evaluate corrective and preventive action responses. Interfaces directly with suppliers to follow up on quality and performance issues by facilitating root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues. Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to Supplier Quality in order to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system. Lead problem solving investigations for product failures encountered during standard production or in new product development related to Supplier Quality of raw materials. Acts as a liaison between the company and customers or suppliers to ensure that clear specifications and quality standards are defined and understood. Assist with logistics, including communications with vendors if there are packaging and receiving issues as materials arrive at receiving dock. Quality Management System: Developing professional expertise; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Facilitate internal, customer, and supplier audits including ISO 9001:2015 audits. Participates in the Material Review Board and responsible to lead disposition and investigation of raw materials and other materials derivative from Supplier Quality issues. Ensures Quality Engineering support and analysis of customer (external or internal) complaint investigations as required. Reviews ECN’s to ensure compliance to the Solar Gard Quality System, and international requirements for New Product Development (NPD) that involves new raw materials or Product Change Notices coming from Supplier/Manufacturers. Perform tests and or review data submitted by Supplier to ensure and maintain the incoming inspection plans are updated. Writes procedures or documents as directed by the Quality Manager. Train company employees to perform quality tests and evaluate test results of raw materials. Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (error proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) Provides assistance to other colleagues with general tasks that require a better understanding of functions, as directed by immediate supervisor. Escalates issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary. New Raw Materials Qualification Collaborate and participate actively with Technology Group and Global Product Management on new raw materials qualification process. Assists in the planning and utilization of Quality Department resources to complete tasks such as lab testing or the support of new raw material qualifications. Advise on the development and execution of verification/validation plans and protocols associated with product/process quality according to Solar Gard Stage Gate and Solar Gard SOPs. Support design control and process validation activities for new and qualification efforts related to new or existing raw materials.
Essential Requirements for the Position: Bachelor’s degree in business or a Technical Discipline (i.e., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial). An Engineering discipline is preferred. Master's in business administration or technical discipline (i.e., Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical) preferred. Minimum five (5) years’ experience/knowledge of advanced problem-solving methodologies: 8D, DMAIC, PDCA, experience in the development of PPAP, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). Minimum five (5) years’ experience with a solid understanding of Quality planning, control, assurance, improvement and business systems. Minimum five (5) years’ experience with ISO 9001-2015, ISO 14000 and knowledge on ISO 13485 (Medical Standard). Minimum three (3) years’ experience with web-based processes (metalizing, coating and laminating, slitting) preferred. Experience working with SAP or other ERP system. Applying lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Principles with process validation/process capability. Proven track record of project development and management. Must be able to manage multiple projects. Experienced in analyzing and presenting data in graphical and other forms. Ability to draw conclusions and develop/present options from investigations and data analysis. Ability to develop and facilitate presentations to various levels throughout the organization. Knowledgeable of OSHA requirements, must have a strong commitment to safety practices and principles. ISO 9001-2015 Auditor Certification, Lean/Sigma Certification, Quality Management Certification preferred. Excellent leadership, communicating & influencing kills, and problem-solving skills required. Ability to travel as needed.
Job Goals: The Supplier Quality Engineer supports Saint-Gobain Solar Gard with tasks associated in evaluating the quality of company products, processes and the effectiveness of the Solar Gard quality management system. Responsible for end-to-end quality and sustainability with allocated supply base, validate and release of materials, and supports the definition and implementation of supplier quality functional excellence initiatives. Ensures the company receives top quality product and service at all times. Investigates root cause and makes recommendations on how to proceed with suppliers who do not meet requirements. The Supplier Quality Engineer must be able to work with limited supervision and effectively complete projects associated with the evaluation of product and process quality. Responsibilities include the resolution of customer and supplier quality problems, routine quality lab functions, understanding of ISO 9001:2015, product and customer quality audits, completion of MRB tasks, and the timely generation of all required customer certifications. The Supplier Quality Engineer must be able to apply detailed statistical analysis of data, TQM, design and execute DOEs and MSAs and establish sampling methodologies. Methods include Six Sigma tools to improve internal and external processes at Solar Gard, its suppliers, and customers. The Supplier Quality Engineer must communicate effectively within the company as well as with customers and suppliers. Facilitates in a team environment to solve problems while working in a multi-task environment. Mentor the incoming inspectors and other team members assisting them to achieve key deliverables for their role related to Supplier Quality Performance.
