Job Summary

GENERAL DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE:

Working with the HR Supervisor, the Training Coordinator is responsible for identifying training and developmental needs for hourly employees as well as planning, organizing, and overseeing appropriate training.   This position requires a person who can communicate well with a variety of different personalities and one who possesses the skill to motivate others. This job requires “hands-on” working with employees and management/leadership team members.

Safety is critical to every position and person within CertainTeed and within the Social Circle Plant. There is no task or assignment performed without safety at the forefront of our thoughts and actions.  The business has an absolute commitment to safety above all else. The position will be expected to use continuous improvement tools and principles to improve safety, quality, service, and efficiency of our operations.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess training needs for new and existing hourly employees

  • Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps

  • Organize, develop or source training programs to meet specific training needs

  • Deliver and oversee the training of individuals or groups of employees

  • Ensure all employees receive statutory required training

  • Develop training aids such as OPLs, JSA’s, and work instructions

  • Map out training plans for individual hourly employees

  • Inform hourly employees about available training opportunities

  • Facilitate learning through a variety of methods including classroom type instruction, virtual training, and on the job training and coaching

  • Design and apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness

  • Track and report on training outcomes

  • Seek and gather information from management, leadership and employees regarding the effectiveness of completed training and constantly seek to improve

  • Communicate with management/leadership to proactively identify topics to be addressed or areas needing additional instruction

  • Maintain employees training records

  • Performing safety observations and entering TF’s in Gensuite

  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Plant Superintendent.

Required Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Competency Statement):

  • Accurate- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly is essential.

  • Communication (Oral) - Ability to communicate with Supervisor, Extrusion Operator, coworkers and managers effectively is essential.

  • Decision Making- Ability to make decisions while following all Company safety rules and procedures is essential especially when working in and around moving high-speed equipment.

  • Detail Orientated- Ability to note minute detail impacting product quality and packaging is critical.

  • Honesty/Integrity- The trait of being truthful and credible within the workplace is essential.

  • Problem Solving- Ability to proactively find solutions or manage work-related problems is important.

  • Reliability- The trait of being dependable and trustworthy is essential.

  • Team Building- Ability to convince coworkers to participate in safety, quality, and service initiatives in an effort to promote Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and capture cost savings is essential.

  • Working Under Deadline- Ability to complete assigned tasks and maintain production output standards and improving yield under specified deadlines is critical.

  • Flexibility – Ability to fill in areas of the plant when needed to cover production positions (off shift work will be necessary).

Additional Description

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY:

  • 2 or more year’s practical experience in a leadership role is preferred
  • Instructional experience is preferred.
  • Effective Organizational Skills required
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management/leadership and hourly workforce
  • Position requires a self-motivated individual with initiative and a positive attitude.
  • Must possess the skill to motivate and develop others.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) required.
  • Participation in a Leadership Development Program or equivalent experience/education is required.
