We tackle real-world problems in areas such as recommendation and natural language processing from Salesforce's enterprise customers by harnessing the latest deep learning techniques. Salesforce AI Research is looking for extraordinary Applied Scientists.

As an Applied Scientist at Salesforce AI Research, your role will be at the intersection of software engineering and research, and may range from implementing novel research models to rapid-prototyping demos that show off applications of machine learning on production data. You will work closely with research scientists to develop models, prototypes, and experiments that push the state of the art in AI research, paving the way for innovative products and services. You will have the opportunity to take on real-world problems from Salesforce’s enterprise customers with the latest machine learning methods. You will primarily work on recommendation and explainability areas.

You have strong programming skills and a background in one or more of the following domains: deep learning, recommendation, natural language processing, computer vision or machine learning, and data mining.

Responsibilities

• Partner in cross-organizational teams like global sales intelligence team and sales strategy team to bring delivery AI-based solutions for various business problem and add value to the business.

• Develop solutions for real-world problems on recommendation and explainability.

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS/MS/PhD degree in CS, EE, or other related engineering degree in ML / DL, or fresh in relevant fields.

• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Python, Java, C/C++.

• Exposure to industry or academic research, particularly in deep learning, neural networks, or related fields.

• Experience with one or more deep learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe or Chainer).

• Experience with machine learning platform and distributed systems, you build, test and deploy code to cloud infrastructure.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with stakeholders at all levels of the business (both business and technical-facing), gather requirements, and oversee projects from beginning to end; along with effective interpersonal skills

Bonus Points

• Practical experience in building and iterating AI products with recommendation, natural language processing, or related technology.

• Exposure to industry or academic research, publish in NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR and other top tier conferences.

• Strong programming skills, competitive in ACM-ICPC or other competitions.
