Area Vice President, Enterprise Sales - West

Salesforce Commerce Cloud is seeking an Area Vice President of Sales for North America, West, to drive revenue growth as well as the growth of the Sales team within the territory. This individual must be a strategic thinker with exceptional strategic, commercial, and cross-functional skills, demonstrate high energy, and have strong sales management experiences in the retail software industry.



  • Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company's sales goals
  • Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement
  • Manage the Sales teams, operations, and resources to deliver profitable growth
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive revenue and results within the territory
  • Manage the Sales budget
  • Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
  • Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
  • Support customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Define and monitor sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
  • Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions
  • Work closely with the marketing function to establish successful support, channel and partner programs
  • Support key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships
  • Hire and develop sales staff and define an optimal sales force structure
  • Support a sales force that top sales people want to join
  • Manage the Regional Directors within the territory



  • 15-plus years of sales experience with 10-plus years sales management experience in the retail software industry
  • Knowledge of complex, multi-vendor selling cycles and SaaS experience a plus
  • Demonstrated team management responsibilities including quota ownership for direct reports
  • Successful management of teams with individual contributors carrying substantial quotas
  • Ability to manage a pipeline of 50+ accounts at any given time
  • Proven track record of team building, successful management and deliverable on regional goals and quota
  • Strong time management, organization, and decision making skills are critical
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Google Docs and MS Office applications including MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Up to 40% travel is required
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualifications highly desirable
