At Salesforce, we believe that business is the greatest platform for change. The ESG & Sustainability Team is on a mission to drive meaningful climate action in line with the global goal of a 1.5°C future. Preventing global temperature rise from exceeding 1.5°C will require transformation at an unprecedented pace and scale – more than any country, coalition, company or community can achieve alone.  This means looking beyond our four walls and using our voice and our influence to advance science-based climate policies that facilitate a just and equitable transition to a 1.5°C future.

We’re looking for a talented individual to support our strategic engagements on climate policy. This individual will sit on the ESG & Sustainability team and work in close partnership with our Government Affairs team to develop and advance positions on key climate policy and legislative initiatives. If you possess intellectual curiosity, great problem-solving skills, and an unwavering belief that together we can solve our greatest global challenges then you are an ideal candidate for the job.

    Responsibilities:****

    • Advance company climate policy priorities on energy, nature, climate disclosure, carbon pricing, climate justice and other related sustainability issues across U.S. state, local and federal jurisdictions. Provide support for additional international jurisdictions as needed.

    • Identify and track climate-related legislation across U.S. state, local and federal jurisdictions. Develop internal climate policy briefs, identify and/or develop engagement opportunities, and manage reviews/approvals from cross-functional business partners (e.g. Government Affairs, Public Relations, Legal, etc).

    • Partner with ESG and Sustainability team to identify program-aligned policy objects; develop and execute strategic plans to achieve desired policy goals.

    • In partnership with Government Affairs, develop and draft policy submissions, publications, blogs, and whitepapers. Help represent Salesforce through direct advocacy or innovative convenings.

    • Build and maintain critical internal and external relationships (community groups, trade associations, etc.) to accelerate Salesforce’s own climate policy journey.

    • Implement new programs to enable our ecosystem to use its voice to influence policy.

    • Review and assess climate policies for climate and business impacts; where necessary, recommend modifications to policies to maximize climate benefits.

    • Elevate climate policy developments to appropriate internal teams to ensure we remain informed of emerging regulatory trends and developments.

    • Complete administrative and business operations work as required for this function.

    Required skills and experience:

    •  7+ years experience in U.S. state, local, federal or international corporate public policy, advocacy or related fields with a focus on climate

    • Demonstrated comprehension of climate change/climate science with expertise in specific climate topics. Preference for clean energy expertise but open to alternatives like nature, carbon, climate justice, etc.

    • Experience designing and/or evaluating legislative policies with an eye toward climate, economic, and environmental justice impacts

    • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams like Government Affairs and build relationships with key internal and external partners

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a track record of distilling complicated topics into clear public-facing resources

    • Confidence and ability to effectively lead, manage and execute multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

    About you:

    • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to specific audiences including executives
