The Salesforce legal team delivers innovative, trusted and outstanding legal services to advance and protect Salesforce’s interests, while building a fulfilling legal work environment. Salesforce seeks to hire an in-house lawyer for the AMER region to join the Global Employment Legal Team, reporting to the AMER VP. The position will provide legal counseling to the Employee Success and Employee Relations organizations and the business, and manage US disputes. The successful candidate will be an experienced labor and employment attorney possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will be highly responsive and adaptable, have the ability to prioritize and satisfy deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment, and show excellent, practical business judgment.
This role is open to be office-flex to Salesforce’s offices in Seattle, Portland (Oregon), Indianapolis, Chicago, Irvine, Denver, Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, and Boston; for a highly qualified candidate, this role may be fully remote elsewhere (with a preference for Pacific Time work hours).
Provide advice on employment related matters, which may include: hiring and recruiting, investigations, discipline and termination, reorganizations, leaves of absence, disability accommodation, wage and hour, anti-discrimination, compensation and benefits (including sales compensation plans and bonus programs), mergers and acquisitions (due diligence and integration), traditional labor, non-competition and non-solicitation, protection of confidential information, and other issues.
Handle legal demand letters, charges and other disputes independently.
Manage litigation.
Direct work by junior attorneys and paralegals.
Develop training materials and policies.
Advise on executive agreements, compensation, and equity treatment.
Evaluate and manage outside counsel on employment related matters, including litigation.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
Participate in and influence the decision-making process with appropriate clients and stakeholders.
Consistently anticipate, communicate and propose mitigation strategies for potential risks in active projects. Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities.
Handle sophisticated legal projects independently.
Recognize when to elevate certain matters to the attention of the legal leadership.
Educate clients on legal matters, policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain relationships, credibility and trust with clients, legal team members and other colleagues.
Travel to team meetings in Seattle, San Francisco, or other scheduled locations.
12+ years of legal practice in employment law.
Excellent academic credentials.
Member of at least one state bar, including state of work location.
Excellent written/verbal communication and negotiation skills.
Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude.
Proven ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
Majority of recent experience providing advice directly to clients.
Experience providing employment law advice, including practical applications and issue-spotting.
Experience managing employment litigation in one or more states, including California, Washington, Oregon, Illinois and/or New York.
Experience responding to federal and state/local agency charges.
Experience preparing employment policies and training materials.
Proven ability to provide tailored, practical, and commercial advice in a user-friendly manner.
Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional projects.
Experience working with a US multinational and/or publicly-traded company.
2+ year in-house experience (this experience could be secondment-based).
Experience working with compensation and benefits programs (including sales compensation plans and bonus programs).
Experience working with a tech company.

For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $175,600 to $254,700.For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $193,200 to $280,200.For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $193,200 to $280,200.Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.
