The Analytics and Data Modeling (ADM) team focuses on helping people visualize and share these insights in order to use data to make better decisions and take action in pursuit of a better world. We are looking for an experienced technical product manager who would like to be part of our mission.
In this role as Senior Product Manager for Tableau Platform within ADM, you will drive the specification and delivery roadmap for features and APIs that enable our customers to incorporate Tableau’s core analytics capabilities into their own applications and solutions. Your job is to work with your engineering partners, other product managers and engineering teams, sales and marketing, and customers to explore and deliver on a range of customer scenarios related to providing programmatic access to Tableau’s core analytics capabilities. You will also work as an internal evangelist and education, helping feature teams to ensure that every feature is API-ready and API-first. Your platform API experience and market and customer exploration will guide us as we navigate towards our long-range Tableau Platform vision.
Some of your responsibilities include…
Product management for embedding scenarios, with a focus on APIs and services that will expose and extend Tableau’s capabilities for internal projects and external customers.
Work with engineering teams to ideate around evolving our codebase into smaller, independent components and services, influencing API standards and system design.
Drive product/feature project definition and ensure cross-functional coordination (developers, testers, designers, sales, marketing, support, management) toward successful delivery of the engineering projects.
Influence engineering processes to instill an API-ready, API-first mindset across the company, including evangelization, education, and coordination.
Investigate the customer market for analytics platform and services, including defining potential customer segments and market verticals, and contribute to strategy for market testing and iteration.
Evangelize your product/features to both internal and external customers, hosting customer conversations and attending/presenting at relevant events.
Ensure that all projects execute smoothly and effectively, recommend process improvements to increase engineering team efficiency and velocity.
Mentor and teach other Product Managers and members of the Development team, particularly around building and maintaining APIs and services.
Present Tableau product capabilities, vision, value propositions, and roadmap briefings to customers, prospects, the Tableau sales team and at other public events.
Your knowledge and skills…
Technical proficiency: Ability to understand code and drive conversations around technology choices and communicate at varying levels of abstraction with your developer customers.
Prior experience with API design and componentized/composable platforms.
Experience with market and customer research and evaluation in a technical space (developers as customers).
Start-up mentality towards incubating new products, market testing, and iterating/evolving based on response.
Able to handle ambiguity and oversee multiple cross-team projects, working with product and engineering managers across teams and departments to deliver customer scenarios.
Exceptional problem solving, teamwork and leadership skills
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Ability to deal with conflict and drive to a solution.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Dedication to software development customer success, both internal and external.
