Core Developer Productivity is M4 on the TMP V2MOM with the goal to deliver transformational improvements to the Core Development Experience this year. The higher priority of this method demands a pool of talent to drive the transformational initiatives such as delivering the core developer workflow in falcon via Salesforce workspaces and the unified framework for both local and cloud workflows under honulib.
As part of the Workspace Engineering (WE) team in Core Engineering, in our efforts to improve Core Developer Productivity, our motto is to give back engineers time so they can deliver the most innovative solutions. We will enable developers to accomplish more by taking advantage of what the monolith provides while minimizing overhead so teams don’t have to scale to produce more output.
Due to the depth and breadth of the above responsibility, this role calls for a strong, motivated software engineer capable of co-driving the team's vision forward. Engineers who thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative environment, and love working with an agile, customer-driven, technology team should apply.
We are looking for engineers who earn the trust of the team and the entire engineering organization via their innovation mindset, looking through the customer lens, deeply studying the existing landscape and finding fitting tools and technologies that would bring even greater predictability and efficiency to the existing engineering development workflows.
This role has visibility to leadership, often delivering on top priorities each year around internal engineering productivity, and working on initiatives that cross the entire organization. We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, engaging engineer who embodies a mix of drive, humility, bias toward execution, pragmatism, strong user empathy, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
Design and develop the next-generation solution for provisioning, upgrading, and maintaining developer machines.
Actively participate/contribute to the dynamics of Salesforce public cloud in the day-to-day Developer workflows.
Maintain the code, tools, and workflows around developer setup for Core and as well as Core products.
Be a proud ideator and confidently drive the idea to market with full customer perspective.
Represent the customer. Be the champion and voice of customers. Bring the customer's voice into the creation process. Own or co-own requirements, design proposals, and co-lead the execution and rollout.
Measure success. Measure everything. Define what success means for each new idea or innovation before it even goes to development. Develop ways to constantly define and monitor the success
Communicate clearly and efficiently. Define expectations for collaborating teams, hold them accountable for success and failure. Define outcomes for consumers and promote the product or update in a cohesive manner.
Experience/Skills Required
5+ experience in a modern DevOps environment
Experience and passion for service ownership - owning a production service and ensuring its availability and health.
Experience operating large scale distributed systems, especially in cloud environments
Debug skills with the ability to learn new techniques in complex distributed systems
Experience working on one of the public cloud environments AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience with container development and deployment (Kubernetes/Docker)
Comfortable with UNIX and Networking
Comfortable with at least one scripting language, ideally Python
High energy, enthusiasm for technical problem solving, learning, and growth mindset
Great communication and collaboration skills
Desired Skills
Experience with OOPS
Experience with domain-specific languages such as Terraform, Spinnaker
Experience with at least one scripting language like BASH etc.
Experience with Golang is a plus
Occasional travel per approved travel regulations is required (domestic and international).
