Team Overview

The Office of Ethical and Humane Use (OEHU) was formed with a mandate to ensure that Salesforce technology is used to help, not harm, society and to uphold the basic human rights of every human being. The Policy team plays a pivotal role in advancing and implementing ethical use policies and initiatives across Salesforce products and technologies.

OEHU is seeking a Senior Manager, Special Projects to play a pivotal role in advancing and managing ethical use policies and initiatives across Salesforce products and technologies. Working together with the Chief Ethical and Humane Use Officer, they will support the Office's policy function to plan and prioritize complex deliverables on projects that span across multiple product, operational, security, and legal teams.

Role Overview
The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, project management experience and be able to help advance the many priorities of our office. The candidate will be able to operate independently and be confident managing multiple internal stakeholders, balancing differing opinions and perspectives, and thinking strategically about project risk and execution in a fast moving environment. The candidate will have an understanding of the potential societal repercussions of emerging technologies and familiarity with principles that can be used to govern and resolve related ethical issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive time sensitive policy development work, partnering with subject matter experts to develop global policy standards according to content and products. Research specific subject matters, digest complex information and prepare recommendations on key topics and cases. 
  • Lead global cross-functional coordination for special projects, including product policy research, development, and other special projects working closely with Product, Communications, Government Affairs, Legal, Operations, and Security teams. 
  • Produce and present internal communications for senior leadership to inform them of ongoing situations, analyze large amounts of data, and create strategic recommendations that are customized for each audience.
  • Communicate forward-looking, solution-based recommendations to drive innovative solutions to protect Salesforce’s platform and end users from ethical risks internationally. 
  • Convey priorities, resolve or escalate issues, and coordinate work to enable timely project deliverables. 
  • Serve as a liaison with executives, general managers, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure organizational goals are met.
  • Drive strategy on how to address gaps between global policy and implementation in product & use specific cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, political science, international relations, risk management, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in policy, legal, risk, or project management.
  • Strong analytical ability - able to take a complex problem, synthesize detailed information from multiple sources, and construct nuanced top-line recommendations on the path forward. Ability to consider an issue from multiple points of view and weigh the merits of all perspectives.
  • Highly organized with experience thriving in high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios.
  • Experience creating complex, cross-team project plans from beginning to completion; prior success in driving execution of large-scale project plans with multiple teams to support business goals.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). You are comfortable presenting ideas to diverse teams and individuals in multiple formats, from slide decks, memos, to informal chats. 
  • Strong analytical ability-- able to take a complex problem, synthesize detailed information from multiple sources, and construct nuanced top-line recommendations on the path forward. Ability to consider an issue from multiple points of view and weigh the merits of all perspectives.
  • Experience providing decision support and advice to leadership. 
  • Fluency in languages in addition to English (particularly French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Japanese) and regional expertise is a plus.
