    Position summary

    Posting Duration:

    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    Salary Range:

    $99,700 - $196,100

    *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

    What Your Job Will Be Like:

    We are seeking an Electronics Engineer/Memory and Analog/Mixed Signal Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Engineer to join a team using advanced EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools and CMOS semiconductor technologies. Our team supports ASIC product development targeting DOE weapons systems, satellite systems, the intelligence community, high energy physics research and trusted microelectronics applications.

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Develop complex ICs including using Sandia’s internal radiation hardened IC technology and external commercial state-of-the-art silicon foundries.
    • Perform design implementation, including logic synthesis, static timing analysis, and directing the placement, routing, and finishing of the coordinated circuit design process.
    • Develop test methodologies and vectors, working closely with test engineering to ensure detailed characterization and validation of all functional and reliability requirements.
    • Build targeted simulation testbenches and associated test scripts.
    • Perform electrical laboratory test setup planning, design and debug.
    • Work closely with the production agency to resolve any issues associated with the transition to full scale production.

    This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering plus one (1) or more years of experience with analog/mixed signal design or;
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering plus five (5) or more years of experience with analog/mixed signal design.
    • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Familiarity with several of the following:
    • Analog techniques and analog building blocks such as voltage/current references, charge pumps, regulators, ADC/DACs and power on circuits
    • Non-volatile memory (NVM) design
    • Mixed signal verification and behavioral models for mixed signal blocks
    • Analog and digital simulators such as HSPICE and Verilog
    • Digital ASIC design flow, including logic simulation, synthesis, place-and-route
    • Radiation effect mitigation techniques
    • Laboratory test equipment
    • Strong interpersonal skills which include teamwork, effective leadership, negotiation, delegation, conflict resolution and the ability to work in a diverse team environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the development and delivery of presentations, proposals, reports, and documentation

    The Advanced CMOS Products and Design department develops and maintains digital, analog, and mixed-signal design expertise. We have a deep understanding of technology offerings and design methodologies to provide custom microelectronic products and engineering services that fulfill the diverse needs of our customers (Nuclear Weapons {NW} and Strategic Partnership Programs {SPP}). Customers include DOE weapons systems, satellite systems, the intelligence community, armed services, other government agencies, the Sandia research community, and commercial industry.We are an accredited Department of Defense (DoD) Trusted Design Center. Our Category 1A Trusted Accreditation through the DoD Defense MicroElectronics Activity (DMEA) is for "Trusted Design" services for both unclassified and classified integrated circuits. We provide ASIC Design Services for both radiation-hardened and non-radiation-hardened foundries from 350nm down to 7nm. We are also involved in microelectronics research and development for next generation microelectronics in support of both Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) and external sponsors. In addition to IC product development, the department works closely with our in-house radiation hardened CMOS technology group to maintain state-of-the-art radiation-hardened CMOS research, design, and production capability.

    Security Clearance:
