    Position summary

    Posting Duration:

    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    Salary Range:

    $113,500 - $190,100 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

    We are seeking a creative and hardworking Technical Business Development Specialist to join our team. Our department provides integrated business development and partnerships experts that are embedded directly with mission and technology teams to realize program development, strategy and partnering objectives.

    Business Development is a career like no other. It demands the ability to think globally and at Sandia National Laboratories, a passion for national security. In this role, you will need to think critically and strategically, development and maintain relationships, and communicate effectively.

    • Partner with other Bay Area laboratories on future planning and explore new opportunities with Livermore Valley Open Campus
    • Cultivate collaboration through the Bay Area ecosystem including establishing the Bay Area Lab collaboration for tech transfer and partnerships
    • Identify and foster partnership opportunities for local and regional Lab engagement programs at the Labs
    • Analyze external trends and translate into useful strategies for the Labs
    • Act as liaison to and build relationships with public agencies, non-profits, and businesses, including entrepreneurs and investors in the Bay Area

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Master’s degree in business, economics, planning, or other relevant field plus four or more years of relevant experience
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Experience with technology-based economic development program
    • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
    • Experience working with Federal Agencies on tech transfer and partnerships activities
    • Experience creating and delivering technical presentations
    • Experience facilitating community-based workshops and events
    • Experience with customer relationship management

    About Our Team:

    Sandia's Business Development (BD) organization has responsibilities for federal and commercial business development, property management, and technology transfer. BD brings together technical and program development related lead engagements in strategy development, discovery of sponsor/customer requirements, and technology road maps communicating Sandia’s unique capabilities relative to Energy and Homland Security needs. Staff are developed through a structured onboarding and mentoring framework specifically designed for the business development field. The team has access to a rich set of proven business development and partnership resources and experienced management and staff. Due to the embedded model and its breadth of support, team members have an immediate built-in professional network across Sandia’s technical programs and support organizations (IP, Legal, Competitive Intelligence, Agreements, etc.)

    Security Clearance:

    Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.     Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
