    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    The Field Intelligence Element (FIE) Information Technology Infrastructure team is seeking a highly motivated Computing Infrastructure Engineer to deploy and maintain servers and endpoints in support of our critical national security missions. Our services are recognized by our sponsors and partners for their positive impact to the mission, and we’re looking for an additional team member who will continue to evolve and grow our capabilities. Our ideal candidate has experience collaborating with others for success, as well as excellent communication which includes communicating technical processes and details effectively with customers of varying technical backgrounds.

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Perform System Administrator duties and provide tier 3 desktop support.
    • Deploys patching to virtual servers, virtual desktops, and physical workstation endpoints using automated patching tools or by manually applying patches.
    • Coordinate efforts across teams and keep customers informed of repairs, work, and resolutions.
    • Purchase, track, and maintain IT-related property.
    • Ensure that IT equipment is properly accredited.
    • Evaluates, recommends, and may decide hardware and software technologies for hardware system solutions.
    • Introduces new computer systems and technologies into current configurations for optimum information systems engineering functionality.
    • Collaborates with customers, suppliers, and other domain experts such as networking, software and desktop personnel in the development and integration of hardware systems solutions.
    • Performs hardware systems analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and recovery, disaster recovery, software installations, systems OS and software applications upgrades and security patches, performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, maintenance of user accounts, and training users.
    • Create, maintain, and document processes and procedures.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computing, Engineering, or Science discipline or 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Experience with VMware and other virtual environments. Experience deploying DaaS systems.
    • Experience administering Windows servers and desktops
    • Network administration and desktop support experience, including failure analysis and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain an DOE Q security clearance
    • Ability to obtain and maintain an SCI security clearance that may require a polygraph.

    Qualifications We Desire:

    Ideally, your background will also include all or some of the following:

    • Experience with automated patching systems.
    • Understanding of Systems Engineering disciplines particularly Requirements Management and Configuration Management.
    • Ability and willingness to learn additional operating systems and networking environments as needed.
    • Experience in scripting languages.
    • Knowledge and experience in hardware and physical connectivity of networks and other systems.
    • Experience solving system problems in a distributed system with many components.
    • Experience with deploying and administering systems in a high-security production environment.
    • Excellent communications skills across all levels of an organization.
    • Strong initiative and ability to complete tasks and manage projects independently.
    • Active Q or SCI security clearance.

As part of the FIE Operations team, the Information Technology Infrastructure department enables the reliable and timely delivery of secure IT products and services to satisfy the unique requirements of the IC.     Security Clearance:

    Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.

    Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by the DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

    $75,900 - $172,300
