What Your Job Will Be Like:
Are you passionate about research and development that supports national security missions in a variety of high-impact areas? If so, you will want to apply for this opportunity to join a team of creative problem solvers in applying computer science and software engineering skills to help secure our nation!
The Enterprise IT Tools and Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic DevSecOps practitioner to help build custom software solutions to maintain and improve Sandia's complex IT environment. Our work directly influences the laboratories’ cyber environment. The entire corporation uses some of the applications developed by our team, while other applications have a very specific user base. Our primary product is a custom DHCP, DNS, and IP Address (DDI) system responsible for enabling automated configuration of more than 50 enterprise networks, as well as user account provisioning, asset tracking and security posture. We pride ourselves for our robust development processes, frequent customer engagement, and acceptance testing. We begin writing code early in a project's lifecycle and iterate until what we have developed meets the customer's needs.
To ensure software quality we use many agile development practices including continuous integration, collective code ownership, code review and paired programming. To this end the team needs an experienced DevSecOps member to help evolve our existing build and deployment pipelines.
All team members are involved and empowered to make big and small project decisions. We believe that great software is developed through collaboration. We support each other with a culture that encourages open developer questions, research, and communication.
Team members are expected to research and implement new technologies, which includes dedicated time for personal interest research that may not have immediate project applicability. In that regard members of our team are encouraged to attend relevant conferences and training. It is encouraged that they contribute their ideas to both open-source projects and the development community as part of their job duties. This emphasis allows for flexibility in the software, frameworks, and processes we use to deliver outstanding software. As a result, our team is often one of the first to introduce new development concepts to the laboratories.
Responsibilities will evolve based on the demands of user-facing applications and mission needs.
This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
