    Position summary

    Posting Duration:

    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    Salary Range:

    $75,900 - $146,200

    *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

    What Your Job Will Be Like:

    Are you ready to apply your skills as an Electrical Engineer in a high-functioning, collaborative environment for Sandia National Laboratories? If so, you could be the highly skilled Electrical Engineer we are seeking!

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Be responsible for Sandia’s Design Standards Manual, Standard Drawings, and Specifications for building electrical systems.
    • Analyze building electrical systems condition and operations data in order to recommend Facility investments.
    • Develop and maintain a lifecycle asset management plan for building electrical systems to guide investment and O&M decisions.
    • Provide technical expertise and analysis in support of predictive and preventive maintenance technologies (e.g. thermography).
    • Review electrical designs for new buildings to ensure compliance with the Sandia Design Standards Manual, Specifications, identify improvements and standard methodologies.
    • Maintain a broad understanding of site systems, safety systems, and design basis.
    • Represent site to National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)/DOE on site systems issues and lead Electrical Affinity Group.
    • Support mission program and capabilities in partnership with Site Strategic Planners.
    • Work with electrical maintenance personnel regarding the low-to-medium voltage electrical distribution system.
    • Lead project teams for electrical building modifications and/or code compliance.
    • Provide Electrical Code and/or Standards interpretation.

    This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Bachelors of Science degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Building electrical system design experience.
    • Experience with current electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, ANSI/NETA MTS).
    • A Facilities organization.
    • An Engineering firm.
    • A Construction industry.
    • A Utility industry.
    • Inspection and design experience.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Master of Science in an engineering field from an ABET accredited institution.
    • Professional Engineers' License (P.E.). or the ability to obtain.
    • Project management, asset management and failure analysis experience
    • Experience with DOE Orders pertaining to facility design, maintenance, and construction.
    • Building electrical system design experience.
    • Experience with current electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, ANSI/NETA MTS).

    About Our Team:

    The Asset Management Department is responsible for tracking SNL real property assets and maintaining CADD drawings for all of Sandia¿s facilities and infrastructure. The department integrates asset management tools for lifecycle management, analysis, and required reporting to NNSA & DOE. These tools (Maximo, TRIRIGA, the Facilities Information Management System (FIMS), the Condition Assessment Information System (CAIS), BUILDER, and G2) help SNL plan, acquire, manage and dispose of real property, from initial conception all the way to planning for removal. Metrics such as Mission Dependency Index, Condition Index, and Functionality Index reside in these tools. This department will also take on Reliability Centered Maintenance and the management of programmatic real property in a phased approach of the newly implemented FMS model structure.

    Security Clearance:

    Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
