    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    What Your Job Will Be Like:

    We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Engineering Support Cable/Electronics Fabricator (job title: Engineering Support Technologist) to work in our Advance Systems Engineering and Deployment group for developing prototype electrical hardware.

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Work individually or as team to deliver custom-fabricated electrical cables and wiring harnesses as specified by our weapon system partners
    • Use testing equipment and measurement devices to inspect work and ensure a quality of high-fidelity components
    • Fabricate components and assemblies from 2-D and 3-D drawings using adhesives, wiring and soldering techniques, and additive manufacturing (3-D polymer printers) tools
    • Assist senior members of the workforce to assemble systems to meet project milestones and test schedules
    • Incorporate ES&H requirements into planning and coordinating of activities such as setting up, monitoring, and adjusting equipment and diagnostics

    Qualifications We Require:

    • High school diploma plus 10 or more years of directly related experience; or equivalent
    • Experience working with engineering, fabrication, and electronics technology
    • Physical soldering experience
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Two-year degree or higher in STEM-related engineering or a closely related field
    • Proven experience with common electrical measurement instrumentation, test fixtures, and electromechanical assembly fabrication
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting and applying common laboratory test instrumentation
    • Ability to read schematics and drawings (electrical and mechanical) for fabrication and testing
    • Ability to assemble circuit boards using precision soldering techniques
    • IPC certifications
    • Adhere and practice engineered safety, work planning and controls, and aligning with ES&H requirements
    • Demonstrated skills working with team members conducting various projects
    • Good verbal and written communication skills

    The Manufacturing Service Programs & Operations department is in place for the research and development and deploying of engineered solutions and prototype hardware components. Hardware is typically made from a variety of inert metals, polymers, and composites materials. In rare cases, hazardous materials will be handled with guidance from industrial hygiene and waste management with controls in place.     Security Clearance:
