    Position summary

    Posting Duration:

    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    Salary Range:

    $86,300 - $166,800

    *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

    We are seeking a motivated and experienced Information Systems Architect to assist in supporting first-of-a-kind, large-scale solutions for national security in both traditional and emerging cloud-based environments. In this role, you will collaborate in an innovating environment to architect, design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain modern data processing infrastructures for sophisticated, real-time decision support systems. You will help build and maintain systems that contain a wide variety of technologies and implementations within networking, storage, processing platforms, display, virtualization, and DevOps pipelines.

    Successful candidates will have a Security+ certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of obtaining an SCI clearance.

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Implement new technologies, processes, and practices
    • Maintain and enhance current environments and systems
    • Develop tools to maintain current systems and enable R&D software development teams
    • Document efforts that support project needs and represent the team to the highest degree
    • Partner across multiple teams to ensure customer success.

    This position will require the selected candidate to obtain a Security + or higher certification. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Occasional travel is required for this position.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field plus five (5) or more years' of directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q and SCI security clearances

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Security + or hirgher certification
    • Experience in the following:
    • Designing, developing, and analyzing overall architecture of internal systems, including hardware and software
    • Designing Hardware and software architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs
    • Researching and making recommendations of technology to improve current systems
    • Developing or modifying information systems, documenting requirements, and revising existing systems as necessary
    • Integration and acceptance testing
    • Problem identification, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting abilities
    • Building, installing, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Windows Server
    • Building, installing, and maintaining virtualization environments (VMWare, etc.) and automated system configuration management systems (Ansible Tower, etc.)
    • Multiple scripting languages (python, bash)
    • Project management
    • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve network-centric issues and learn new technologies, concepts, and processes
    • Ability to function in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team
    • Ability to prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects within appropriate scope and timeframe
    • Ability to work beyond normal business hours when needed
    • Active DOE Q or DOD equivalent and SCI clearances

    Security Clearance:

    Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.
