NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$86,300 - $166,800
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
The B61-12/W80-4 Joing Test Assembly (JTA) Systems Engineering Department has an immediate opening for an Electrical or Systems Engineer. JTA electrical engineers work closely with the JTA team, the Department manager, and broader program communities for the B61-12 and W80-4, including National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and DoD partners integral to JTAs for those programs. Close interaction with other key individuals across SNL (both NM and CA sites), NNSA, LANL, LLNL, KCNSC, PX, and DoD is required to ensure that technical and programmatic requirements are met. This position will provide the successful candidate significant career growth opportunities.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems engineers within will play a critical role in specifying and reviewing activities involving all aspects of the B61-12 and W80-4 JTA systems to establish flight test surveillance programs for these life extension projects. Critical thinking skills are applied to design JTA systems, and to integrate components developed in other organizations into the JTA system designs. Specific responsibilities include: design, development, and qualification of the JTA system to closely simulate weapon performance in a surveillance environment, development of JTA system and component requirements, design and assembly of different test units during development stages of the program, production support activities for JTA components, and testing of development ground and flight test units leading up to final JTA qualification.

The B61-12/W80-4 JTA Systems Engineering Team partners with Groups 2320 and 2350 on B61-12 program scope and partners with Groups 2330, and 8240/8260 at SNL/CA on W80-4 program scope. The scope of the Dept is focused on design and development of JTA systems to closely simulate weapon performance in future surveillance programs, which forms the basis for Annual Assessment of the nuclear weapon systems. This organization supports the Weapon Systems Engineering Centers, which are responsible for assuring the safety, reliability and security of US Nuclear weapons enabling the defense of our nation through nuclear strategic deterrent. The organization is comprised of a group of dedicated and motivated engineers and technologists, primarily in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Systems Engineering. The B61-12 program is currently in Phase 6.4, Production Engineering, and the W80-4 program is currently in Phase 6.3, Development Engineering.

Security Clearance:
