NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$158,000 - $268,600
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Level 1 Manager to join the 08430 team and lead the Telemetry Engineer 2 (8434) organization. The 8434 department currently has responsibility for our W80-4 telemetry development projects (JTA TM, CTU Data Recorder) and a couple of our other Data Recorder projects including the B61-12 FASTER system. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for providing professional leadership and guidance to the department’s staff as well as programmatic and technical leadership for the department’s projects. This includes meeting all currently agreed upon milestones and deliverables, maturing and deploying new technologies, and working with the 08430 management team to define the future of the business. 08430 is a highly matrixed group internally and the successful candidates will be expected to work closely with the 08430 management team to develop consistent and equitable processes and staffing decisions across the group.

Organization 08434, Telemetry Engineering 2 - along with sister departments 08432, 08435, 08436, 08437, and 08438 - has responsibility for the design, development, and qualification of weapon system instrumentation (or telemetry systems) for use in Joint Test Assemblies (JTAs) for the entire US nuclear arsenal. The JTA program is a cornerstone of the Stockpile Evaluation Program and allows critical assessment of the weapon system, DoD platform, and support personnel performance. To fulfill its mission responsibilities, Organization 08434 employs a diverse and talented group of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and technologists. The Organization collaborates with other NW groups within Sandia and across the Nuclear Weapons Complex, including NNSA, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, the production agencies (National Security Center and Pantex), and the DoD. Organization 08434 is also expected to have significant interactions with other DOE Laboratories and other NNSA entities (beyond the NW Complex), the DoD, and other government agencies.

Security Clearance:
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
