    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    What Your Job Will Be Like:

    The Advanced Microsystems Radiation Effects Department is seeking a Microelectronic/Semiconductor Technologist with Printed Circuit Board design and layout experience to support our leadership in national security research, development, testing, modeling, and prototyping of new microsystems technologies, devices, manufacturing processes, and radiation hardness assurance methods.

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Design and layout multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs) using electrical schematics.
    • Operate and maintain advanced laboratory equipment (Linux, Mac, and Windows Computers, oscilloscopes, current and volt meters, power supplies, parametric analyzers, etc.).
    • Execute test programs on automated semiconductor test equipment.
    • Maintain and organize experimental test data using databases and data analysis tools.
    • Implement automation and mistake proofing measures for efficient production testing.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or related field or;
    • High school diploma plus four (4) or more years of related experience
    • Experience with design and layout of multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs)
    • Experience with commercial PCB design software
    • Working knowledge of basic electronics
    • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Altium, Mentor Graphics, ORCAD or similar software experience
    • Familiarity with oscilloscopes and multimeters
    • Experience in:
    • defense, aerospace and/or weapon systems
    • running and maintaining research laboratory equipment and computers with UNIX/Linux plus Windows/MAC experience
    • working effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment
    • Strong communication, partnership, and interpersonal skills
    • Critical thinking, synthesis and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to prioritize, lead, and complete projects within appropriate scope and timeframe

    The Advanced Microsystems Radiation Effects team develops, integrates, characterizes, and assures the radiation hardness of advanced microsystems technologies for the nation’s nuclear deterrence and non-proliferation missions. Our research and development focuses on detecting and mitigating radiation effects in advanced mixed-signal CMOS, radio-frequency (rf) and analog devices, photonics and optoelectronics, compound semiconductors, non-volatile memories (NVM), micro-electro-mechanical (MEM) sensors and actuators, and heterogeneously integrated microsystems.

    Security Clearance:
