Bidder Eligibility:

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range:
$138,600 - $235,500
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Sandia’s Atmospheric Sciences Department is currently seeking an experienced R&D atmospheric or environmental scientist at the Distinguished Member of Technical Staff level. Are you an experienced atmospheric or earth system scientist interested in leading research development efforts in atmospheric and climate sciences within Sandia's Climate Security Center? Do you have an established career in research and development relating to atmospheric or environmental processes, field or laboratory measurements of atmospheric parameters, Arctic systems and impacts, ecosystem feedbacks, or climate security? Are you interested in solving challenges related to atmospheric and climate science through Modeling Experimental (ModEx) approaches, instrument development, measurements, and many related fields at the DOE's leading engineering R&D laboratory? Join Sandia to work on cross-disciplinary teams in support of Sandia's overarching mission of delivering "Exceptional Service in the National Interest" and the Climate Security Center’s mission of “Accelerating Innovation to Save the Planet”.
The selected candidate will provide technical research, program management, and strategic initiative support for programs related to atmospheric and climate sciences including the Arctic, climate intervention and Greenhouse Gases (GHGs).

About Our Team:
The Atmospheric Sciences Department at Sandia National Labs have expertise in atmospheric measurements and modeling. Technical activities cover the spectrum from theory to application, including algorithm development, computer modeling, data inversion, instrumentation and measurement systems development, field deployments, field campaign execution, and field site management. Particular expertise exists in the measurement and modeling of atmospheric processes in the Arctic including the use of unmanned aerial vehicles such as high-altitude balloons, small fixed wing and rotary aircraft and tethered balloons, as well as the use and cold hardening of measurement systems such as radar and lidar. The department serves as a Laboratories resource for atmospheric sensing expertise.

Security Clearance:
