    Position summary

    Posting Duration:

    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    Salary Range:

    $101,400 - $201,400 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

We are seeking motivated R&D Computer Science professionals to join a highly performing team and support sophisticated software testing for an advanced multi-component satellite ground system. On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Perform system requirements analysis.
    • Collaborate with system engineers, architects, developers, technical leads, customers, and end users to develop a key verification methodology of the system functionalities and architectures.
    • Research and develop innovative automated testing.
    • Explore and implement testing tool solutions.
    • Perform verifications and validations for customer acceptance.
    • Identify and report on defects.
    • Support test activities from component to enterprise level.
    • Support testing capabilities advancement.
    • Propose and participate in internal research and development efforts.
    • Travel occasionally to support ongoing efforts

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Master’s Degree in related STEM field, plus two (2) year of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in related STEM field, plus six (6) years of experience
    • Experience in the following: System verification and validation C++, Java, Python or similar programming language
    • Active DOE Q clearance with ability to obtain SCI

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Active SCI clearance preferred
    • Agile testing methodologies and agile software development through Scrum, Kanban, or other processes including XP, test driven development, continuous integration, etc.
    • Test Rail or a similar tool
    • Agile Testing methodology
    • Confluence and JIRA
    • Linux operating systems, associated shells such as BASH, TCSH, etc., common command-line tools such as GREP, and file structure navigation
    • Ability to use debugging tools, static analysis tools, test harnesses, and other capabilities to troubleshoot and fix complex software applications and libraries.
    • Superb communication skills
    • Collaboration and teaming skills

    The Systems Engineering and Deployment department is responsible for the formal acceptance testing of complex satellite ground system which is being developed to support high consequence national assets for nonproliferation and national security missions. Our systems are targeted for a range of applications and complexities, including remote and in-situ sensing systems, satellite communications and control, distributed computing and analysis, and real-time data collection, management, exploitation, and dissemination.

    Security Clearance:

    Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
