We are seeking an outstanding leader as the next Director for the Proliferation Assessments Center. The Center Director is responsible for the Proliferation Assessments (PA) Program (part of the National Security Programs portfolio). PA, in collaboration with our strategic partners, provides scientific and engineering expertise to anticipate, understand, and proactively address existential threats to our nation. The organization’s highly talented workforce encompasses a strong understanding of weapons of mass destruction (nuclear weapons in particular) and deep connections with the Intelligence and Defense communities, as well as the scientific community. PA is part of the Threat Intelligence Community, along with the Information Operations Center and the Applied Information Sciences Center. The Center is also one of Sandia’s five Cyber Centers. The Center consists of three subprograms/groups. The Threat Assessment Group is primarily focused on understanding existential threats to the United States and works closely and collaboratively with Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Labs, as well as the Department of Energy, and the Intelligence Community to produce both deep technical assessments as well as practical intelligence for policy makers. The Tailored Operational Support Group focuses on innovative sensing systems and technical assessments of the resulting data. The Applied Strategic Technologies Group develops specialized solutions to unique problems of strategic importance to the nation. The Center partners strongly across the Laboratory and the nation to tap into expertise and capabilities, while providing critical threat information to the rest of the Laboratory and the National Security community.

About Our Team:
Center 5900 has about 200 individuals with a wide range of educational and experiential backgrounds. We have personnel at our New Mexico, Minnesota, and California sites as well as telecommuters and remote workers across the country. There are currently three senior managers and four senior scientists as well as an integrated business team. Each of the senior managers is responsible for a sub program and for capabilities that support the Threat Intelligence Community, the Lab, and the National Security Complex. The Director is also a key member of the Division Executive Leadership Team.
