NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

Salary Range:
$101,400 - $201,400 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a R&D S&E, Electrical Engineer with drive to contribute to a more secure and decarbonized electric grid through distributed energy research. The successful candidate will research, design, and test new electrical or electromagnetic components, equipment, systems, and networks using the technology of electricity, especially equipment for power generation and distribution. This position is expected to include research into the design of electrical equipment, controls, components, systems, and products. Further, analysis will include knowledge and use of power systems, machine learning, grid modeling and laboratory assessments for distributed energy-resource based systems. To best enable the collaboration and partnership that makes many of our projects successful, we prefer for the selected hire to work onsite at the Sandia Albuquerque location.

Sandia's Renewable and Distributed Systems Integration (RDSI) department conducts research, development and demonstrations of new components and systems that will enable rapid transition to a grid based on clean and distributed energy resources. The department partners extensively with the U.S. industry and other research institutions to pursue high-value solutions that enhance performance, safety, reliability and resilience of energy systems. We establish the technical foundation for advanced models, analysis methods, controls, standards, cyber-security solutions and power electronics concepts applicable to microgrids and interconnected systems. Much of this work is conducted at Sandia's Distributed Energy Technologies Laboratory (DETL), a world-recognized systems integration research facility for over 40 years. This work is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Security Clearance:
