    Position summary

    Posting Duration:

    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

    Salary Range:

    $138,600 - $235,500

    *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

    What Your Job Will Be Like:

    We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manager to join our dynamic team to lead our new Department with engineering staff and technicians that are engaged in DoD and DO/NNSA nuclear security design and implementation! Work scope covers the areas of physical security policy/planning, technology development, design, testing, and implementation activities.

    This role will be highly visible in the Nuclear Security Enterprise and will require interactions with high-level customers in DoD, DOE, NNSA, and M&O site representatives.

    On any given day, you may be called on to:

    • Manage staff and technologist supporting variety of nuclear security projects across DoD and NNSA portfolio.
    • Cognizant manager of one or more security projects which provides leadership and guidance to staff performing projects.
    • Interact with customers to develop requirements which align to PSCOE capabilities and identify opportunities for partnership.
    • Work with other Managers to understand project needs and plan for resources to staff the project.
    • Support and execute program development efforts that trace to PSCOE strategic objectives.

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in relevant field, plus four (4) or more years of directly related experience; Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
    • Three or more years of supervisory experience and/or leading technical project teams.
    • Must have the ability to travel 25% of the year.
    • Active DOE Q-level security clearance or DOD TS.

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Minimum of two years of demonstrated leadership experience.
    • Experience providing successful leadership of completed physical security related or other end-to-end system design and implementation project.
    • Experience with Strategic Partnership Program project execution, including project initiation, execution, and closeout.
    • Address changing Program priorities while navigating ambiguous customer direction/requirements.
    • Established network with different organizations within the Labs to allow external partners to leverage lab wide capabilities and critical reach back support.
    • Practical knowledge and understanding of the DOE/NNSA and DoD budget and program management processes and policies (AOP, FYNSP, PRB, DOE O 413.3B, MIPR, POM).
    • Interacting with high-level external partners (SES, GO, and O-6 level).
    • Domain expertise in physical security delay design, sensor development/testing, network design, or image design/implementation.
    • Knowledge of DOE, NNSA (473.1A), and USAF (5210.41M) requirements as applied to physical security design/implementation projects.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining a portfolio of LDRD related activities.
    • Demonstrated interest and success in recruiting, hiring and developing/mentoring new personnel.
    • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

The department provides program and project management along with SME's for risk analysis, intrusion detection, video assessment, communications, entry control, alarm communication and display, and response force planning.     Security Clearance:

    Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
