    NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

    If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

    Salary Range:

    $101,400 - $201,400

    *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

    The W93 Systems Integration team is seeking a Systems Engineer to lead and implement the program’s digital engineering initiatives involving model-based definition (MBD) and model-based systems engineering (MBSE)! When you join our team, you will be part of a diverse, collaborative group that values individual contributions and encourages a culture of respect for all. Development of the W93 program plans to use improved engineering practices to design and build a new weapon system. This position is responsible for the creation and maintenance of an integrated digital approach that uses authoritative sources of system data and models as a continuum across subject areas to support lifecycle activities from concept through disposal. The work is challenging, dynamic and it will require high accuracy. This career path offers opportunities to be influential, mentor early career engineers, and have significant visibility and responsibility over program deliverables.

    On any given day you may be called on to:

    • Lead the W93 team in adoption and implementation of the Digital Engineering Ecosystem.
    • Identify requirements and use cases for tool integrations that will be needed to support future program deliverables
    • Represent the W93 program at Strategic Planning of future Digital Engineering Transformation efforts across Sandia, the Nuclear Security Enterprise and with W93 Program customers
    • Implement MBD and MBSE across W93 Product Realization Teams (PRTs) including developing and providing MBD and MBSE trainings for systems team members and component PRTs
    • Develop and provide guidance to PRTs, track their maturation, and support them with their issues and needs on path to meeting NNSA and SNL leadership’s digital engineering expectations
    • Generate metrics and provide program and SNL leadership with status reports
    • Coordinate with Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to develop joint solutions and processes
    • Test and debug new tools and processes with the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) information technology team and others
    • Coordinate digital engineering efforts with the W87-1 and other programs
    • Perform other systems engineering duties for the program as required
    • This position will require occasional travel up to 25%

    Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Bachelor’s in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant STEM field plus five years of relevant experience
    • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance and SCI-level clearance, which may require a polygraph test

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent DoD clearance with ability to obtain and maintain additional clearances which may require a polygraph test
    • Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) in a relevant STEM field
    • Experience with system engineering concepts and principles
    • Experience with model-based definition (MBD) and/or model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
    • Experience using computational simulation and modeling tools – MATLAB, Simulink, FEA, etc.
    • Experience using computational computer aided design tools - Creo/ProE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.
    • Experience using GENESYS software
    • Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler or MagicDraw software
    • Experience using PDMLink
    • Experience leading and influencing cultural change initiatives across divisions and worksites
    • Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling
    • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter in an ambiguous environment
    • Experience reporting to and communicating with multiple levels of management and customers
    • Academic or job experiences in areas such as: engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects
    • Extensive knowledge of the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) complex and product realization process
