    Director, Risk ModelingDallas, United States of America

    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

    Monitors model activities in the organization to minimize the company's exposure to model risk. Activities include quantitative analysis, risk identification and overseeing risk remediation being done by business model owners. Maintains the reputation of the company through minimizing compliance and regulatory risk by ensuring issues are resolved and ensuring adherence to company’s model risk management policy, standards and procedures. Responsible for ensuring that all company model-related activities (development, updates, implementation, and ongoing performance management) adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory requirements.

    Job Function Description: Ensures adherence to the company policies and procedures. Manages policy, standard definition and monitoring of policy, standard implementation, ensuring harmonization and consistency of risk policies. Monitors and manages risk/exposure and compliance with the company's policies. Identifies, manages and reports on the company's risk areas. Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of data, document retention, and monitors systems.  Supports model risk communication to relevant committees.

    Responsibility Statements

    • Collaborates with senior business leaders to drive continued maturation of model governance risk and controls.

    • Work with different business area managers to identify models/Expert Judgment Models (EJM) that are not already captured in the inventory to ensure ongoing inventory completeness.

    • Engage with Model / EJM owners to oversee the development of model risk controls for all aspects of the model life cycle and to ensure their alignment with the Model Risk Management Group (MRMG) standards.

    • Promote stronger EJM governance working with end users and MRMG.

    • Assist the RCSA team in integrating model risk controls as a part of the overall RCSA process.

    • Collaborate with model owners and serve as their governance back stop prior to MRMG validation.

    • Strengthen controls around MRMG’s issue validation.

    • Evaluate the model/EJM Business Requirement Document (BRD) and technical specifications to confirm consistency with actual implementation testing performed by business owners.

    • Review implementation of new or updated models and evaluate the effectiveness of related controls.

    • Develop a framework for models’ performance reporting to internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.

    • Provide oversight and monitoring of new model uses, specifically, in the model development phase.

    • Coordinate with MRMG in their SC related annual Model Inventory certification process

    • Partner with Risk Management model owners to support their regulatory discussions 

    • Prepare timely, accurate, and meaningful reporting to senior management regarding important model governance and controls reporting.

    • Provide guidance on risk and compliance procedures and policies as needed.

    • Communicate direction from senior leadership to team.

    • Set goals and articulates objectives for team members in alignment with departmental objectives.

    • Review summary reports, prepare final reporting, and participate in the communication of review findings to business lines and senior management.

    Education

    Education -Bachelor's Degree with Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or equivalent quantitative field or equivalent work experience with a Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or equivalent quantitative field.

    Work Experience:            9-12 years

    Skills and Abilities

    • Advanced knowledge of statistical applications within Financial Services to interpret data requests and identify risk data analytical opportunities.

    • Advanced risk, process, and control validation and/or assessment skills.

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

    • Demonstrated technical expertise of modeling techniques, statistical analysis techniques and tools, and various database architectures.

    • Demonstrated management and leadership skills.

    • Ability to build rapport, garnering respect and credibility across lines of business.

    • Ability to influence all levels of employees in a collaborative cross-cultural environment.

    • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced and dynamic financial services environments.

    • Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates, and management.

    • Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed.
