    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

    The Controllership position manages and monitors large project or accounting processes within the accounting function. They provide subject matter expertise to leaders and business lines by providing guidance, interpretation, and communicating impact to business lines/accounting team.

    The Finance organization is responsible for leading and participating in a number of critical functions including: supporting executive management decisions making by analyzing results, assessing strategic alternatives and developing strategic plans; communicating financial results and forecasts with critical stakeholders, including executive management and Board of Directors, shareholders and regulators; managing the Company’s balance sheet, including interest rate and liquidity risks; establishes the Company’s capital policies and prioritizes investments; develops and implements controls to reduce operational risk; developing and maintaining financial data and systems. The Finance organization works across functions and Business lines in the Company, requiring a broad understanding of our business, risk and strategy.

    The Regulatory Reporting team is responsible for the operations and controls surrounding the Regulatory Financial Reporting of the institution to the Regulators. This function’s responsibilities demonstrate expertise in processing transactions, products, recording accounting entries, managing the local regulators reports and reconciliations with the general ledger, and interpreting and complying with instructions and reporting disclosure requirements.

    • Manages and monitors any large project or process implementation within the accounting and Regulatory Reporting function.

    • Shares expertise with leaders and business lines by providing guidance, interpretation, and communication of policy and/or procedural changes and impact.

    • Ensures compliance and regulatory standards are met within the department.

    • Researches and analyzes new products, systems, and/or best practices within the Regulatory reporting function; proposes findings to Regulatory Reporting manager.

    • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

    • Monitors and communicates accounting developments to the organization's operations, financials, and regulatory reporting to management.

    • Collaborates cross-functionally with all lines of businesses to facilitate and lead timely implementation and standardization of any new accounting requirements made to the existing accounting policies and procedures.

    • Collaborates with other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.

    • Advises senior management on the best practices needed to meet defined goals and objectives.

    • Manages projects and initiatives as requested by senior management.

    • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    • Improves existing processes and practices within the Regulatory Reporting team.

    • Represents the organization as a primary resource and subject matter expert for specific accounting projects, initiatives, and updates.

    • Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to junior professionals as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • 9+ years Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field within the Banking or Financial Services Industry.

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent field, or equivalent work experience.

    • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent field a plus.

    • Demonstrated competence of accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP and regulatory reporting standards

    • Advanced knowledge of financial products as Derivatives, Fixed Income, Lending, cash management, trade finance. As well, knowledge of Regulatory Reporting standards.

    • Knowledge on FFIEC 002, FFIEC 019, FR2644, FRY15 will be positively assess.

    • Advanced experience with MS Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)

    • Ability to lead, influence and direct peers, subordinates and management.

    • Ability to make effective decision making on complex matters.

    • Ability to convey a sense of urgency and drive.
      Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.

    • Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups (e.g. business units) outside of Corporate Accounting to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed.

    • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.

    • Ability to maintain and report on confidential information in an appropriate manner.

    • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills required.

    Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.     For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $115,000-$155,000. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
