We are looking for someone to lead the company’s Business Continuity and Recovery Program. This position will report to the Business Continuation (BC) Senior Manager in the Business Resiliency Department of SCE. The department covers the full spectrum of resiliency for the company to include, hazard risk reduction programs, data analytics, response, continuity and recovery planning and emergency management programs.
In this position, you will:
- Serve as the primary technical leader in business continuity practices for the company. Will often be responsible for running multiple high profile, complex projects and teams simultaneously.
- Develop, lead, and implement integrated and cross functional projects at a large electric utility. Develop solutions for complex enterprise challenges.
- Manage and govern the company’s Business Continuity Program, partner with the IT Disaster Recovery Program, execute the Business Impact Assessment (BIA), and track associated mitigations. The BIA includes such elements as working with internal experts to identify critical business processes, dependencies, conduct impact assessments, determine, and prioritize appropriate mitigations, and monitor execution of those activities.
- Lead emergent and existing projects that bring together all critical company functions including electric operations, generation, IT, finance, facilities, communications, external relations, and security.
- Serve in a role on a SCE Incident Management Team and respond to emergent situations. This position will be expected to fill a role supporting Emergency Response Operations, as needed, and directed by department management. Day, night, and weekend work may be required to help if an emerging incident occurs.
Qualifications
The essentials
- Ten (10) years of experience related to business continuity and recovery and/or experience working on cross functional teams to address corporate risks and initiatives
- Sevent (7) years of leading the development and implementation of projects by directing the design, analysis, strategies, and execution of tasks needed to meet business requirements.
- Seven (7) years of providing project management and strategic direction to a project team(s) and is responsible for the project development, budget, and schedule.
- Seven (7) years of technical knowledge (i.e. business impact assessments, systems/dependency analysis, mitigation planning, continuity planning and IT application recovery)
- Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
The preferred
- Bachelors degree or higher in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Business Administration or related field
- Experience working with Emergency Management Principles and the Incident Command System
- Ability to think strategically and develop appropriate tactical steps to meet strategic goals
- Excellent written, verbal communication skills, and the ability to develop positive working relationships
- Works well under pressure
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Use of database platforms such as Fusion or other related software
You should know
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
- This position resides in the Business Resiliency Department which is also the company’s emergency management function. This position will be expected to fill a role supporting Emergency Response Operations, as needed, and directed by department management. Day, night and weekend work may be required to help if an emerging incident occurs.

- Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

- This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
