Become a Cost Estimator, Sr Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will provide the required technical oversight and guidance to ensure the Cost Estimating (Cost Management) function within the Grid Contracts Origination & Operations Organization are consistently meeting the service level commitments, comply with a common set of controls, and are operating effectively and efficiently over time.   

Cost Estimator, Sr Advisor reports to the Senior Manager of Customer Interconnection & Method of Service (CIMOS) and works closely with various stakeholders and workgroups including Substation Engineering, Real Properties, Environmental, Distribution/Subtransmission/Transmission Planning, Project Controls (Estimating, and Scheduling), Finance, Contract Management, Law, and Regulatory.

· Lead highly complex analytics required in areas of cost estimating for a portfolio of major and/or multi-year third party generation projects and/or programs. Utilizing your excel and access skills to manage data and data bases, prepare and present cost estimates, results, alternatives, and/or recommendations to support cost estimating and allocation methodologies.

· Lead and oversee transformational changes to meet our customers and regulatory fast changing demands. This requires Senior Advisor to act as a technical Single Point of Contact and Subject Matter Expert in this specialized discipline. 

· Work with internal and external stakeholders to research and develop highly complex and innovative solutions (often lacking precedent) to drive strategic decisions and optimize business unit performance.

· May also be assigned to work on or represent SCE in various regulatory or professional settings (https://e.g., audits, litigation, white paper publication, and recommended practices). 

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Ten or more years of cost estimating experience within utility and/or electrical engineering.

The preferred 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science, engineering, business, data science, or technical discipline
  • Master’s Degree in science, engineering, business, finance, data science, or technical discipline
  • Experience in project controls (estimating, cost mgmt., and scheduling) and construction mgmt. 
  • Experience with utility or capital construction and/or regulatory process
  • Experience with Power Bi, Excel programming, SAP, Primavera, Relational Database (https://e.g., MS Access), BEx and SAS
  • Certified Cost Professional, Project Management Professional, and/or Six Sigma certifications

You should know

This position’s work mode is hybrid.  The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
