    Become an Electrical Apparatus Test Technician at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow.In this job, you will operate various machines and test a variety of electrical equipment in the the surrounding Southern California Edison territories. As an Electrical Apparatus Test Technician, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone.     A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

    •  Perform power transformer acceptance testing on new and refurbished power transformer in substations and hydro generating stations, including high voltage testing and troubleshooting
    • Perform functional tests and adjustments on transformer controls, relays, load tap-changer and other accessories
    •  Perform acceptance and diagnostic tests on various substation apparatus such as regulators, reactors, CT, PT, metering devices, lightning arrestors, and capacitors
    •  Perform soil tests at various substations and customer sites
    • Compiles test data, analyze results, generate reports
    •  Performs occasional wiring of various controls
    • Operates various manlifts and forklifts as needed

    Qualifications

    The essentials

    • Experience fixing/testing mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment
    • High School Diploma
    • Possess a valid driver’s license

    The preferred

    • Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering
    • Advance technical study or experience with testing electrical/electronic equipment
    • Experience using various hand and power tools
    • Strong communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

    You should know …

    • This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

    • Position will require up to 95% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory for up to two weeks or less at times.
    • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
    •   Relocation does not apply to this position.
