    As a HALO Transmission Journeyman Lineman, you will be in the Transmission organization that’s responsible for our subtransmission (66kv and 115kv) construction and maintenance, and bulk power lines (161500kv) maintenance using Barehand & Liveline work methods. You will, at times, be transported by a helicopter and dropped onto structures to conduct overhead work that can be performed safely from a platform, structure or helicopter. 

    A day in the life  Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright! 

    • Perform Barehand and Liveline work methods. 
    • Installing, removing, and making repairs to overhead and underground transmission, subtransmission, distribution and communication systems. 
    • Installing and removing equipment and apparatus. This includes poles, cross arms, towers, enclosures, ducts, piping, transformers, switches, capacitors, pot heads, protective devices, cooling or insulating equipment, emergency gear and automatic reclosers. 
    • Installing, removing, splicing, bonding, terminating and testing conductor and cable. 
    • Using precautionary procedures, necessary tools and safety equipment to work on or near energized lines or equipment. 
    • Operating construction vehicles (up to 1,200 lbs.) in addition to vehicle auxiliaries and other powered equipment. 
    • You will be working with others, collaborating, instructing and directing apprentices and helpers. 
    • Trains and assists other crew members, classes and work units as required. 
    • Creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices. 
    • Maintaining a safety "own it" mindset where you choose to be safe for what and who you value. 
    • Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications

    The preferred

    • Experience conducting line work from a helicopter
    • Barehanding & Liveline work experience
    • Skills in electrical utility construction methods and standards, overhead and underground materials, use of hand or power tools, and operation of construction equipment.
    • Knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity, electrical circuitry, and operation of electrical equipment.
    • Operating test equipment such as amp, volt or ohm meters, phasing and cable test sets, fault finders, and cable locators.
    • Experience with mechanical principles to rigging and the operation of tools and equipment, test instruments and procedures, accident prevention rules, and safe work practice.
    • Experience with State General Orders 95 and 128.
    • Experience working with environmental compliance and regulatory requirements, including hazardous waste
    • Experience with safe work practices and construction/maintenance methods, techniques, tools, and equipment.
    • High School Diploma
    • CPR certification from Red Cross or American Heart Association.

    • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Reference our Information Guides for the following test: Edison Individual Contributor Workstyles (Test 8203). Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
