    Become an Information Architect and Data Engineer, Advisor at Southern California Edison and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and socializing data management strategy, roadmap, portfolio and solution level architecture and solution designs. The data management capabilities include data modeling, information architectures, data warehousing, data integration, data quality management, master data / metadata management, data engineering, and analytics.

    This is technical leadership position, that requires strong data /information management as well as data/ application integration solution architecture and design skills. This position will work closely with Solution/ Application Architects, Data SME’s, Integration Center of Excellence, and Engineering Services (for detailed design and build of solutions). The Advisor regularly interacts and collaborates with business Data SME’s, Data Stewards, and Data Custodians. The role involves conducting research and analysis of business requirements and use cases; leveraging available technologies to architect and design data and integration solutions to address those business needs, problems, and use cases.

    Typical responsibilities include:

    • Internal client consultations, 
    • Develop best practices/ standards/ guidelines for data and integration domain and engineering solutions
    • Develop and document architecture and design patterns for data and integration solutions 
    • Develop data and integration requirements, logical data models, data and integration architecture and design for solutions, data mappings
    • Solution evaluations, impact assessments, rapid solution prototyping, and solution recommendation
    • Review and ensure detailed design compliance with solution architecture and design
    • User adoption of data management solutions
    • Drive data quality assessment and remediations with IT and business data SME’s

    In this job, you’ll act as an internal consultant with business groups and IT for enabling data management solutions. In addition to the technical skills related to data management and integration, a good understanding of utility specific functional and data domains (e.g. Power Procurement, Generation, Transmission and Distribution functions) are key to the success in this role. You will drive the maturity of data management and data engineering solutions across organization and be answerable to leadership for data management strategy and execution.

    • A multi-faceted role that involves diverse responsibilities such as:
    • Develop and maintain information/data and Integration strategy, roadmap, and realization plans
    • Develop data and integration patterns, standards, guidelines, and best practices. Ensures compliance to standards and guidelines for consistency across various projects.
    • Researches, recommends, and implements new technology solutions for data management domain including data warehouses, metadata management, data engineering, data-as-a-service, BI/Analytics
    • Architect and design data and integration solutions including data warehousing, data mart, ODS, and various analytical solutions using technologies such as Snowflake, SAP BW/Hana, Talend, Services/API’s, ETL/middleware based integration, Palantir, Python, Pyspark.
    • Perform conceptual and logical data modeling, support development of physical data models
    • Identify, design, and implement internal data process/quality improvements for data capture, storage, processing/transformation, analyze, deliver.
    • Design and facilitate development of data engineering solutions covering acquisition, extraction, transformation, manipulation, and consumption of large and complex data sets.
    • Work with collaborators, including executives, managers, and various operational teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
    • Implement and promote ‘Data-as-a-Service’ strategy to improve data usage and consumption across organization
    • Facilitate Implementation of data catalog 

    Qualifications

    The essentials

    • Seven (7) or more years of experience in architecting and designing data and integration solutions
    • Five (5) or more years of experience in building data warehouse, data marts, data mining, large scale data acquisition, transformation, and cleaning, both structured and unstructured data. 
    • Experience and technical knowledge with data /integration technologies or platforms such as Snowflake, Hana/BW, Talend, SAP PO, Datapower

    The preferred

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics/ Mathematics or related field of study
    • Experience with EDW and Big Data technologies such as Palantir, Elastic Search, Hadoop ecosystem (e.g., HBase, Pig, Hive), Hana, and/or GoogleBQ a plus
    • Experience with cloud computing 
    • Experience with Python, PySpark, NodeJS/VueJS
    • Snowflake certification
    • Cloud Analytics certification
    • Talend, Cloud ETL tools certifications

    You should know …

    • This position’s work mode is hybrid.  The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

    • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA however, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
