    We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic problem solver to join SCE as an IT Associate Project Manager to assist the Project Manager (PM) / Product Owner (PO) in coordination of information to support the project design and planning. You will document and track results of discussions, project planning sessions, risk mitigation plans, and modifications to project plan documents.

    Serving in this role, you will provide project management assistance to large projects to ensure solution and service delivery of initiatives within the IT Power Supply Portfolio. Assist in project planning (scope, schedule, and budget), project initiation, project execution, and project closure by adhering to SCE IT standards and processes.  Assist in executing continuous improvement projects to enhance existing processes and streamline the workflow of the team.

    At times, this position may be assigned to smaller projects at which Associate Project Manager will assume full accountability of project including, but not limited to planning by adhering to SCE IT standards and processes

    • Stakeholder Management: Partners and collaborates with multiple team members at various levels of management including IT vendors, Telecom, Cybersecurity, Change & Release Management, Service Management, Operations, Finance, Supply Management, and clients.

    • Vendor Management:  Help the portfolio with supervising vendors, assist in defining scope of work from them and project team, coordinating performance measurement reports and supporting in various other related tasks/milestones and invoice payments process.  Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, deliverables, feedback including renewing the vendor contracts.

    • Project Risk Management: Collecting and supporting teams with project risks and issues against project scope, timeline, and budget.  Use project controls to ensure quality delivery of key project artifacts, including monitoring of quality and project performance metrics. Partners effectively with Project Manager in developing Risk Mitigation strategies.

    • Project Communication Management: Compile project status reports, coordinate project schedules, lead project meetings, and identify and resolve technical problems.  Provide accurate communications in person and in writing. Compile and analyze data to complete various reporting deliverables. Capture and publish defined metrics data relating to project attributes.

    • Agile Project/Scrum Master: Understanding projects in Agile setting as Scrum Master. You may be assigned Agile or Waterfall projects, and need have a flexibility to manage from both execution. Position may require you assisting Agile projects as Scrum Master with understanding of Sprints, Minimum Viable Products and Kanban boards. Experience in estimation using story points. Understanding of control charts, burn down and burn up charts. Facilitates team meetings, including (where applicable) the Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, and Iteration Retrospective.

    Qualifications

    The Essentials 

    • Five (5) or more years of project management and/or project support experience

    • Two (2) or more years of experience in assisting in implementation of projects in Waterfall and Agile Delivery.

    • Two (2) or more years of experience in project quality, including quality assurance, metrics and quality controls. 

    • Experience and general knowledge of IT functions and roles in utility/ power generation industry.

    • One (1) or more years of experience working in Agile projects.

    • Experience and advanced skills with Microsoft Office Professional Suite and various project management products, and other SaaS/ Cloud PMO applications.

    The Preferred 

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher or higher in Business, Computing Information Systems, Engineering, or related major

    • Two (2) or more years of professional work experience managing suppliers, service contracts, project metrics, and contracts in Utility/Power Generation industry.

    • Ability to self-manage and prioritize the team’s interest.

    • Experience and working understanding of Lean and/or Six Sigma or SAFe Agile Methodology

    • Ability to build strong relationships with collaborators, maintain effective communications regarding project progress.

    • Ability to make effective decisions that meet business needs while minimizing risk and operating within company policies and all levels of regulations.

    You should know … 

    • This position’s work mode is hybrid.  The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
