    Become a Principal Manager, Procurement in Southern California Edison’s, procurement group. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing a range of categories grouped into a functional areas; such as Direct Services - which includes line construction, design contracts, civil construction, transmission and substation construction, major projects' construction, vegetation management, and environmental services; Direct Materials – which includes the acquisition of all materials needed in all construction, major projects, vegetation management, and environmental services; or Indirect Procurement - which includes IT procurement (hardware and software), all managed services, customer service, MSO and special projects, and facilities construction.

    In addition, the Principal Manager will build and deliver long-term strategies and projects to meet OU business partner and operational needs. This includes: Developing overall procurement strategy for the spend group, designing and implementing S2P strategies and processes, synthesizing category specific strategies and prioritizing areas for engaging the Strategy Project Manager; developing quarterly, annual and multi-year strategy roadmaps; refreshes based on changing business needs and vendor landscape; setting and delivering overall category savings and vendor management targets; communicates and aligns on strategy and targets with Director, Procurement and VP, Ops services; proactively engages OU leadership as a strategic partner; participates in strategic vendor negotiations, relationship management with vendor; participates in (and leads at times) procurement related decision making meetings.

    • Leads  teams of supply chain professionals including senior managers, category  managers, etc. in the development and implantation of category strategies for designated spend categories to provide advice regarding the market for goods and services the Company acquires. Understands internal client requirements and planning process. Focuses externally on industry trends, standard methodologies and market changes. Leads and directs contract negotiations with suppliers.
    • Manages resources and budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs. Makes, recommends, and/or approves employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion, appropriate pay, rewards/recognition, succession planning, termination). Manages employee performance for direct and/or matrixed reports. Establishes performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies and procedures. Manages, trains, and develops staff by providing timely feedback, coaching and support. Demonstrates Company values through decisions and actions. Promotes the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment. Sets strategic direction for the team, including leadership development, capacity building and individual development to deliver comprehensive sourcing solutions and value propositions.
    • Leads contract management strategy and organizational change. Provides direction and oversight for developing multi-year sourcing and planning strategies to align with Company strategies and budgets. Regularly collaborates with executives to gain consensus and alignment on end-to-end supply chain contracting. Understands business partner needs, requirements, and priorities at a strategic level and provides recommendations to Organizational Units on procurement strategy.
    • Plans, develops, recommends and implements enterprise-wide best practices for supply chain policy and procedures ensuring Company-wide adherence. Accountable for regulatory compliance (e.g., NERC-CIP, audits, SOX, NRC, DOA, safety and environment). Leads direction and execution of Supplier Diversity Program (DBE) initiatives to meet established Company goals and objectives.
    • Leads a team of supply chain professionals that manages supplier relationship and portfolio management, including defining performance metrics and assessment, contract and risk management, contract execution and dispute resolution.
    • Willingness and ability to travel 10-40% in support of client and departmental programs and projects.
    • Promotes the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment

    Qualifications

    The essentials

    • Seven (7) or more years of experience managing or supervising an organization or unit
    • Five (5) years of sourcing and negotiating experience in a large corporate setting.

    The preferred

    • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • Typically possesses ten years of experience managing, supervising, or leading an organization, unit, or group within procurement or supply chain functions.
    • Strong leadership, communication and negotiating skills to build consensus with collaborators to develop and maintain partnerships with support organizations and senior management.
    • Demonstrated experience with services procurement, subcontracting or related experience.
    • Demonstrated procurement-related experience including contract development, contract management, and contract administration.
    • Demonstrated experience with purchasing and negotiating contracts with vendors.
    • Demonstrated experience with financial planning and managing large and complex budgets.
    • Demonstrated project management experience.
    • Demonstrated experience with SAP and ARIBA.
    • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to accurately analyze information and make strategic decisions that have cross-organizational impact.
    • Must have effective written, verbal, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage team members and direct reports by evaluating employee performance and making personnel decisions.
    • Ability to follow Edison Safety protocols and principals and also be personally engaged as a safety leader.
    • Two (2) years of experience in Program Management
    • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and implement business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
    • Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
    • Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

    The preferred

    • Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
    • Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) Certification, Certified Professionals Contract Management (CPCM) Certification, or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

    You should know

    • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
