    Become a Study Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow.  In this job, you’ll be part of the Added Facilities (AF) and Interconnections Facilities (IF) Study Group, within SCE’s Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Organization.  This person will be responsible for the engineering/design/study of substation electrical facilities, acting as a Study Engineer for complex projects (Generating Interconnection studies, Method of Service studies, infrastructure replacement projects, distribution/load growth projects and/or bulk power projects), and resolving technical issues associated with substation engineering.  As a Study Engineer 2, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone.     A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

    • Provides electrical engineering and design support for all voltage levels (up to 500kV) for new or existing Generation Interconnection Facilities Studies and Load Method of Service Studies.
    • Coordinates with other engineering departments to obtain their scope inputs and estimating inputs.
    • Develops preliminary scope of work based on project summary/description provided from sponsors and ensures assigned projects are meeting scope, schedule, cost and CDM issue dates.
    • Provides technical support to field personnel and other internal/external stakeholders and project related team members as required.
    • Provides engineering support for on-ongoing operational needs to support service reliability and meet other related compliance requirements, such as emergent projects and/or customer requests and emergencies as well as North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance and reporting. 
    • Works with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Design Manager.

    Qualifications

    The essentials

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher level of education in Electrical Engineering or bachelor’s degree in a Scientific/Technical/Math field. 
    • Two or more years of Electric Utility industry engineering experience. 

    The preferred

    • Three or more years of engineering experience.
    • Familiarity with California Independent System Operator (CAISO) study interconnection process. 
    • Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in State of California.
    • General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform sophisticated assignments for a specific field, various installations, or services.

    • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
