We're looking for a passionate AI Research summer intern joining our AI research team starting June 2026.
The candidate will join one or more project teams which focus on industrial AI such as renewable energies, digital building management, data center operations, energy storage systems, and industrial process control. The candidate will apply data science and machine learning methodologies, techniques and algorithms to solve business problems that are important to Schneider Electric or our customers.
The position will report to AI Research Director, but will work closely with respective project leads, project team members and other teams within AI Hub.
Responsibilities
Contribute to one or more research projects as a project team member
Explore data generated by industrial systems or customers, visualize and model the data, and communicate findings
Create or synthesize data from internal or public data sources, or generate from models or software, and validate them
Research and survey industrial reports and technical papers on latest industrial trends, case studies, models and methodologies in the areas of team's research. Summarize and report the findings
Develop machine learning models and predictive analytics to solve the problems concerned
Develop, train, test, and deploy machine learning models
Analyze, compare and interpret the results and outputs from machine learning models
Learn about new machine learning models, systems and apply them to the problems at hand
Work closely with AI Research Director, project leads, AI researchers, AI product managers or AI industrial consultants
For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $29.50 - $47.50 per hour. In addition, this position is eligible for overtime pay and recognition programs.
The compensation rate for this position is for candidates located within the United States. Individual pay is determined by several factors including knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Qualifications
The candidate must currently enroll in a master or doctoral graduate program in a related discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Data Science or CS
The candidate will need to demonstrate strong mathematical, reasoning and problem-solving skills to be involved in some research based on machine-learning and data modeling
Deep learning architecture and models such as CNN/RNN/LSTM/Transformer, time series, graph neural networks.
It is expected that the intern has working knowledge of data science workflows and methodologies, has experience building machine learning models, knows and applies tools such as Python, C++, Java, SQL, Visual Studio Code, Jupyter Notebooks, TensorFlow, PyTorch
Basic knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, or other cloud platforms is a plus
Knowledge of Git/GitHub is a plus
The primary research focus for the role is in control and reinforcement learning. In addition, candidates with experiences in one or more of the following, acquired through a combination of courses, academic projects and/or industrial projects, are strongly preferred:
Research experience and publications in dynamic systems, control theory and/or reinforcement learning.
Deep reinforcement learning such as value-based algorithms (DQN...), policy
gradients algorithms (A3C, DDPG, PPO...), model-based RL and various model-free algorithms.
Academic and/or industrial project experiences in building management, data center operations, energy management or other related industries.
Exposure to or experiences with scientific AI/ML such as data-driven modeling, digital twins, reduced-order models (ROMs), and physics-informed neural networks (PINNs).
