Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Manufacturing Scientist to join our consumables center-of-excellence located in beautiful Carlsbad, CA. As a core member of our Technical Operations team you will collaborate with cross-functional groups to incorporate design changes for existing products and will support design transfers for new products. In addition, you will work closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory and Manufacturing counterparts in order to establish and maintain technical documentation in accordance to Company procedures and guidelines.Key responsibilitiesPrimary responsibility is on technical operations such as manufacturing support, solving MFG issues, handling product non-conformances, rework instructions, redlines and collaborate with QA/QC to secure the release of life science reagentsActive participation in design transfer of new product lines to develop knowledge on MFG process. Works with R&D and process development teams to phase in new products from R&D to MFG, when required.Lead continuous improvement operations such as validation strategies, process validations, redlining batch records, participate invalidation activities etc.Provides technical support and expertise to the manufacturing operations on an as needed basis to tackle any problems and improve the manufacturing process.Focuses on critical deliverables and high-priority projects, acting as a hands-on resource where needed at the discretion of the manager to ensure on-time delivery of a high-quality product.Investigates and disposition product nonconformances in conjunction with Quality, MFG and R&D team members.Lead adoption of the Danaher Business Systems (DBS) throughout the teams to improve quality, delivery, cost, and innovation by applying tools and a continuous improvement mentality.Experience developing & execution of manufacturing processes, writing procedures, and training manufacturing associatesConduct proof of concept experiments; plans and executes engineering lots. Initiates, execute and implement changes including but not limited to Engineering Changes and Deviations.Skills:Ability to perform assignments with some direction and guidance, while working together with cross-functional teams.Ability to explain sophisticated information to others.Ability to seek sophisticated problems; take a fresh opinion using existing solutions.Ability to communicate key business-related issues or opportunities.Experience in chemistry or consumables manufacturing environment.Ability to lead muti-functional sophisticated projects.Ability to think and execute efficient solutions to existing manufacturing processesEducation and Skill Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology with 5+ years of Life Science industry and/or consumables, sustaining, manufacturing, or manufacturing process engineering ORMaster’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology no less than 3+ years of Life Science industry and/or consumables, sustaining, manufacturing, or manufacturing process engineering experience.Experience in Mass Spectrometry is strongly preferred, background in Capillary Electrophoresis and or analytical chemistry is a nice to have.Additional Requirements:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by incumbent.
