Engineering Data Scientist Intern V

About our group:

This position requires an exceptionally strong and passionate candidate to participate as a team member in developing and applying Analytics to support the data storage industry. We are looking for students with a background in Statistics, Engineering or Mathematics that has a passion for performing data analysis and creating tools to help other engineering teams in their analysis needs.

The intern will work on deep learning convolutional neural network application.
Dealing with real-world situations, the team member will use his/her programming and machine learning expertise to query & process the data, apply machine learning and statistical techniques to classify the pattern and deploy the system in the production tools & web applications.  

About the role - you will:

&bull    Perform hands-on data analysis and modeling with huge data sets
&bull    Improve image pattern recognition algorithm using deep learning
&bull    Create synthetic data for model training and acquire real-world samples for validation
&bull    Work side-by-side with material scientists, process engineers and IT in acquiring, processing and analyzing the R&D data
&bull    Develop analytics tools' processes and approaches
&bull    Develop and maintain Image Analytics software

Interns typically work Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm. The hours are subject to change with or without notice at the sole discretion of Seagate.

About you:

&bull    Current PhD or Master&rsquos Student studying Math, Statistics, Data Science, and Engineering or a related quantitative discipline returning to school fall 2020.  
&bull    The candidate will need to have demonstrated the following skills:
o    SQL, SQL Dialects(hive,presto),
o    R / python
o    CNN/OpenCV
o    JMP scripting
o    Statistical & Machine Learning analysis  
o    Project management experience
o    MS Office Suite (advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint)
o    Analysis skills and ability to communicate verbally and in writing
