As a part of the Global Infrastructure Services team, our goal is to provide reliable compute, storage and network services to all Seagate factories and design center operations. About the role - you will:

Seagate&rsquos IT Global Infrastructure Services (GIS) organization is seeking an intern to help support and continuously improve our business processes and projects.  This position reports to the Senior Manager of IT Infrastructure Services and will be located at our Fremont Research Center.

The Graduate intern will assist with our team on implementing and automating data center infrastructure initiatives and globally standardizing Kuberentes cluster services and automate infrastructure components around microservices. Intern duties will include but not limited to:  

&bull    Creating Ansible playbooks and modules to automate system administration for distributed data centers and global infrastructure
&bull    Writing python code to interact with REST APIs to enhance or increase functionality of existing software deployments
&bull    Development of Ansible templates, playbooks integrated with Python scripts for infrastructure config automation
&bull    Completely automate the VM and physical server build & deployment processes through Python scripts and Ansible playbooks
&bull    Review the existing disparate container deployments and migrate that into standardized Kubernetes platform

Interns typically work Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm. The hours are subject to change with or without notice at the sole discretion of Seagate.

About you:

&bull    Master&rsquos Degree (in progress) in Computer Science or Business Analytics or related fields.
&bull    Currently enrolled student returning to school in fall 2021
&bull    Experience with configuration management systems such as Ansible is an advantage
&bull    Knowledge of TCP/IP, Linux operating system internals, file systems, disk/storage technologies and storage protocols
&bull    Knowledge on container-based workloads, using Kubernetes or other orchestration software
&bull    Proficiency in a high-level language like Python and/or Shell Scripting
&bull    A desire to write tools and applications to automate work rather than do things manually
&bull    Familiarity with tools for monitoring and system alerting (Grafana, Prometheus)
&bull    UNIX and Linux system administration experience: ssh, monitoring processes, attaching storage, cleaning disk space, tailing logs, etc.
&bull    You must be self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environment
&bull    Professional and positive communication skills
&bull    Previous internship and/or project experience is a plus
&bull    Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues

Your experience includes:

&bull    IT infrastructure automation through Ansible
&bull    Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMWare and KVM is preferred
